I don't really believe in fixes and all that bull but I don't see how it could be much more blatant to try to keep this came close, some ridiculous foul call after call against the celts in my opinion, anyone else seeing this sh*T? and they might still cover!!
How bad are refs trying to screw celts tonight

#3i don't think its the spreads that they are even worried about, i really believe the nba is fixed to get more games they want to extend series to make money. Refs get more games so hence more pay checks so they lean towards the dogs in elimination games and Stern wants as many games as possible. So they favor the teams that are down in series. I don't think what we are seeing has anything to do with the spreads but had everything to do with extending seriesComment -

#4oh absolutely there wouldn't be much point for them to keep that game within 7, they were seemingly trying their hardest to have the bulls win outright. it went from 21pt lead to like 5 in about 6 minutes, that was nuts... but yea absolutely i've been learning nba doesn't like quick series for those financial reasons you just mentioned, still kind of sick though its just the 1st round, let the games be played and they'll work themselves out... maybeComment -

#7I once read in the paper that most teams don't really profit until the playoffs. The season makes them X amount of dollars, and making the playoffs is where they really make their dough. Looking at some of these matchups on paper it's hard to imagine them going 5. suddenly they win both of their home games after losing both road games. It feels like I'm watching roller derby or "professional" wrestling. what irks me the most is that only a few announcers are actually upset about this. some of them lick the refs a*scrack making it seem like they made the right play, when it was a complete miss.
this is terrible, not just for the fans, but for future basketball players who watch some players get away with murder, while some get fouls away from the ball just for having their jersey rub the opponents.Comment -

#8I think also they want it to seem entertaining. If the Lakers and Cavs both swept their way to the finals, would they have many viewers? Lakers winning 4 games 125-90 would probably lose them serious bank. But if they keep it within 6, it's a 2 possession game, and fans are on their seats. The business end of sports will probably be the death of it someday. Just like MLB teams keep their phenoms in the minor leagues for half a season ,to save money down the road when new contract talks begin. These things kill the game.Comment -

#11also, Tim Donaghy didn't "out" any other refs who were on the take (likely because criminal organizations would murder him) but he did say that there are others doing it. if an independent group were to review all the games of the year, I'm sure they'd find 3-6 refs who don't call 'em fairly.Comment -
