    ? for Orlando backers tonight
I keep hearing "Howard won't have 5 points again" and "Vince won't go 4-for-19," but what about the fact that Jameer, Pietrus, Lewis and Redick combined to go 13-for-23 from distance and they still only won by 9? Doesn't that cancel out the first two arguments?

I'd also be worried about three things:

    1) Captain Jack was only 6 of 18 himself. He'll play better.
    2) CHA outrebounded ORL by a wide margin. Why?
    3) In my opinion, Wallace is the best player in this series and the Magic don't have anyone to defend him.

I don't think the Bobcats win this game -- I do think they take Game 3 -- but I do think they'll stay within the 9.

Sound arguments. It's a game in which one could easily argue for or against either of the teams. We'll all get our answers when the teams take to the court.

        Yep.

It's going to be close in my opinion -- right in that 7-11 point range.

magic have an off night in game 1 and only win by 9... howard foul trouble + carter poor shooting + 2nd/3rd options poor shooting is not an equation thats going to repeat

I think I like the over tonight considering all of the off nights that just happened. they've set the total to same number as the last game.

does anyone else think they will either cover these pts or just straight up lose?

I really disagree with the argument that Orlando somehow under-performed in Game 1. The Magic's effective FG% for the game was 53.3%, right on their season average, as was the Bobcats at 48.5%.

How is it AT ALL surprising that the Magic's players that earn a living in the paint (Howard/VC) struggled offensively against the Bobcats. Of the ten Charlotte players that saw action in game 1, seven of them are 6'7" or taller, and the Cats allowed less ppg than any other team in the NBA this season. This isn't a surprise and it's not going to magically change in Game 2. Perimeter shooting from the Magic is business as usual, and Howard is going to have a hard time scoring in this series. He's a great player though and found other ways to contribute in Game 1 and I would expect him to do the same in Game 2.

I think that the Bobcats are actually a great team for the Magic to face in the first round as facing such an athletic group that feature stifling defense for several games in a row will prepare them far more than an easy round 1 series would have.

That being said, they're going to have to earn every win and I would hesitate before taking the Magic to cover a big spread in any game in this series.

I gotta comment that the big 3 (carter, dwight, lewis) are gonna take over this game tonite. Wtih carter 12 points, dwight 5 pts and 8 boards, and lewis played a mediocre game orlando seem to mad handle and controlled the whole game (remember they won at the end without carter and dwight producing much). You gotta look at it in which orlando played with 2 major game stats that charlotte couldnt capitalize on which were marginally outrebounding orlando and reducing the points in the paint. Tonight how howard is gonna play smart stop the fouls and put up 25+ and 16+ boards. As well, carter watch him show the critics and the world why he was brought to magic. I know alot of u guys might have joined the CATs bandwagon cuz of the large spread, but dont be decieve by game 1. I was watching the entire game, second half the magic were lazy and played the game like every usual blow outs that any team would do is relax and played much softer until the sense of urgency kicked in at the last 5 minutes of the game. Knowing Stan van gundy he will yell, slap, and pinch his players to stay awake and maintain the blow out.

The Cats are defensive specialists with multiple players capable of guarding Howard effectively. For him to get to 25 points in any game in this series he's going to need to draw a ton of fouls and hit 12-15 FTs, which will be tough.
