Yes I understand what a hedge is. If you are sweating the bet than do it. But I would never place a 2 teamer of games that were on the same night with the intention of hedging it. Id try and get paid.

never hedge.

the house already has a superior edge on parlays, and hedging them raises that edge further.

if you are a rec bettor and plan to never parlay again, than fine, take the profit. if you plan on parlaying as a part of your betting strategy moving forward (which is a shitty strategy), hedging will only result in costing you money.

I'd have to respectfully disagree with you Statnerds... There are many times when hedging is a good move. While I agree that I see no value in hedging a 2 team parlay, I would definitely consider hedging a 5, 6 or 7 teamer on the last leg. I had a 5 teamer going once that was going to pay me like $4,000 awaiting my last game and I caught wind that there was an injury. I hedged the hell out of it and cashed half thankfully because I would have lost. If things have changed since you made the bet (injuries, weather (football), coaching change, etc.), it's usually a good idea to hedge.

The old adage... "A bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush" applies here. If I can put money in your pocket right now with zero risk, why turn it down to make more money but possibly lose money in the process??? At least hedge so you can at least make your initial money back.

I'm not talking about the $5/$10 casual, who gives a shit parlays. I'm talking about big boy parlays. Hedging should be considered...
