I spent a lot of time researching that play and did a LONG writeup on it. The thread already had over 50 replies and was very informative. What's up with that?

#2OK so I already hit you guys with my Team Total of the Year with the Nuggets and my College Basketball game of the Year with Wake Forest which were both big winners. Today I give you my Total game of the year!
Phoenix @ Golden State O/U 243.5
The last time I saw a total this high between these two teams (244 O/U 3/15/2009) I thought to myself, "Jesus Christ, the totals between these two teams are always in the 230-237 range, how in the world are they going to score 245+ points combined. The result that night was a 130-154 Phoenix win @ GS. I think this was the highest combined score of any two teams in god knows how long.
Tonight I am asking myself the same question. Three out of the last four games between these two teams have gone under including their last game in Phoenix which only combined for 215 and went wayyy under the posted total of 233. The last O/U between these two teams all average to around 234.
So what does Vegas do tonight admist these two teams going under mostly lately and going way under last game? THey put out the highest total ever in the last 2 years at 244. Sure enough the public is pounding this total to the tune of 75% on the under, 25% on the over.
Ok now why do I absolutely love this play? Well the fact that this total is so much higher than all the others is a huge sign to me to take the over. Why would Vegas put this total so high knowing that the public will for sure be on the under? My answer is because they think it's going to be a high scoring affair. Now why do I think it's going to be a high scoring affair? It's pretty plain and simple, Golden State has been allowing EVERYONE to score at will on them lately. The biggest exampleo of this was just 3 days ago when they allowed the Spurs, who are by no means a great offensive team, score 147 points on them. They also allowed N.O to score 130 on them twice in the last month, another team that isn't so hot on offense. Now here come in the Suns who are THE high scoring team in the NBA, who are really feeling themselves lately winning their last 4 games. I don't see any reason why the Suns won't score at least 130 points on GS. I think GS will be themselves at home and also go out there and score 120+ especially since they have had a extra day of rest for this game and have Monta, Steph, and Maggette all healthy for tonight.

#10I'm not too sure what you are on but I'm really liking the under here. A great deal of people aren't on the under compared to the over (as in it's about 60-40), plus there is very sexy line movement for the under as well.
Definitely liking this to go under and by a great deal. Both teams have been scoring "high" of late and that's where a lot of the extra added points have come from for the total. I don't think they're going to have a high scoring game as both teams have recently had (ie. GSW/Spurs, Suns/Minny GSW/Atlanta or GSW/NOH x2).
If the Suns just shutdown the Warriors, which it will take only one quarter and the "over" on the total is goneski! Sure they could potentially put up a 70 point quarter but they're going to have to play at a high freakin' level for four quarters. Sure there's also a good chance that both teams will be off with shooting too!
Under for mine but good luck with your plays ladies.Last edited by Devon; 03-22-10, 05:41 PM.Comment -

#11A little inside info for you guys, I live in Phoenix and I know that the Suns didn't get into the Bay area until 2 am and had to practice at 10 am. The Suns will have to score a lot to keep up with GS scoring at will on their tired asses. I'm taking the over.Comment -

#16Well obviously I am not estatic about it but the truth is I put in the play before the line even moved up. I took it at 243.5 as soon as it came out so the line movement didn't play a factor at all into my playing of this pick. Suns should still be able to put up 130 points tonight, they have been winning lately and are hot and GS has been allowing mediocre offensive teams to score on them at will.Scared money don't make money

#19I didn't like games like this. Last time I watch GSW play with Raptor, it kind of cool for the first 5 minutes, but then you get tired to watch those players just run up and down with jump shoot. Especially when they get cold, they look like whole bunch of high school girls playing.Comment -

#26I haven't been playing much (life got intense) but over seemed like the right play. Games with insanely-high totals seem to always go over.
But it seems that high-scoring first halfs usually lead to a lower-scoring 2H.Comment -
