My problem is that most stars still have to initiate contact to get a foul. Kobe doesn't try to draw contact and doesn't get hit, yet the way he falls and screams afterwards gets him the call

not disagreeing with you one bit at all. but you have to understand, his job is to draw a call so he can goto the line. whether he deserves it or not. this is where reffing f*cks up games.

Exactly. The argument can be made that Lebron initiates contact sometimes so he shouldn't get certain calls, but they are far more legitimate fouls than Kobe's throw it at the rim and fall plays.
