It started when they traded Mr. Bigshot.. He was the glue that held things together. Not only is he one of the best PG in the game he is probably a better leader than PG and there is no flies on his game. That cat could start for me any day of the week. That was the best move Denver has made. Detroit got owned in that move.. Black Basketball players are awesome, but don't particularly make great fron office decisions (JOE DUMARS)

Lyon804, Billups is a good player, but not "the" reason for Detroit's collapse and Denver's rise. According to info at 82games.com, Denver's just a little bit less when he's not in (as opposed to Phoenix without Nash a couple years ago).

Yea, right but you cannot discount the intagibles of having a veteran leader that is a good example of how to play the game. All the stats in the world can't maesure that. NBA players tend to tune out there coaches alot especially coaches that don't have a track record like Detroit's coach. Coaches messages get stale easily over a long season and that is the time a veteran will take over and deliver that message.... Who on Detroit is delivering that message now?? What was Denver really lacking??? Leadership and discipline.. Come back when you have sometihng.

trading chauncey was a terrible move , but it was dumars who built this team when they won the championship and were one of the elite teams , black has nothing to do with it

Chauncey Billups for A.I has turned out to be one of the most lopsided trades in NBA history. Detroit needs to clean house and start over again.

OP topic said Pistons "probably" going to move? Is there a source for that? Or just speculation?
I am a Pistons fan and loved Billups above all the others, but at least credit Dumars with some courage. He'd watched the core Pistons get old and just not bring it every night. They might have been able to contend for a lower tier playoff spot for a couple more years, but they were not going to win a championship. Stuckey looked like a really promising player, and while he's on a plateau he still has upside.
So Dumars cleared cap space and handed team over to Stuckey. It's not like he didn't know he was blowing the team up. He's been a little trigger-happy on his coaches, but I'm going to wait and see how the team does in two or three years when they get a big on the roster and Gordon and Villaneuva have been fit in before I call this trade a disaster.
Meanwhile it sure is fun watching Chauncey teach Denver how to win on League Pass.

How was it Joe Dumars was voted exec of the decade? I agree he made a bad decision in letting Billups go and also drafting Darko Milicic over the likes of Wade, Anthony, and Bosh. Seems like any chance that people have to blast Detroit, they do so. Look at how many years the Pistons were good. Its been a long time since we have had a losing year like this.

Pistons were going to suck with or without Billups. They had a good run now must re-tool. Happens to many teams.
