Don Logan's Book Notes: "A Tale of Two Offenses"
    Rockets +5 at Memphis

SW division must not be big enough for both these offenses, because whenever one's hot, the other's not. Rockets have been cooling the engines ever since busting outta the gate red-hot, while Memphis went on a shooting frenzy of their own while Houston struggled. But now it looks to me like Memphis is tapering off while Houston is returning to early season form. Plus, Memphis doesn't seem to play much defense, and when the shots quit falling at meteoric rates it's gonna put a dent in that ATS record big time. Bottom line I think this line is several points too high and Houston probably wins this straight up. Rockets, baby!!!

Don, I couldn't agree more. I made the Rockets my top play of the day. Memphis while being a very good home team I believe you will see them coming back to earth. The law of averages say this. Memphis has overachieved for awhile with good shooting. I look for the Houston team to keep them in the mid 90's tonite. I also like the under some. BOL!

A couple of things to consider, since the board's momentum seems to be with HOU given Don and PV's writeups:

MEM has beaten HOU by double digits in the last two home meetings.
HOU is 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games.
HOU is 1-8 against teams averaging more than 103 PPG.

Trends are meant to be broken. I saw this play as soon as the line came out. Don we will be at the window collecting tonight.

I bet against a team in college basketball that was 1-15 ATS this year and they covered the spread and I lost. The numbers are really not as significant as some think. I am not saying they are irrelevant, I am just saying they are what they are. Memphis has been riding high for awhile. I think they are exausted and need a break. I think they are in the begging stages of a down turn. The memphis team has 5 good starters, but that bench leaves alot to be desired. Memphis if they win tonite will be less than 3 pts. This is the time of year a lack of bench starts to show. In the end if it wasn't for Memphis recent play at home they wouldn't be favored by 5 pts. Top to bottom Houston is the better team and a deeper more talented bench. I also think Houston might be coming back around.

I agree, but those are some pretty strong numbers in favor of MEM.

                Just something to consider.

Couldn't agree more that each individual game is its own entity regardless of past trends. Just wanted people to be aware -- we'll just have to see.
