I know many of you here are not statistics buffs and neither am I. I never make a play based soley on stats. I will play a team when their current play reflects their statistics.

cleveland is currently in good form and 8-2 SU and 9-1 ATS last 10 against the Jazz.

Might not mean anything to your play, but after reading this I would cut your wager down a hair.. Don't chaise tonites losses on a TNT game. Lebron and company do well on TNT.

I think what Williams really is questioning is the amount bet.. 7500 and 50% of BR. The play itself is sound and nobody disputes it, but is it 7500 good?? 50% BR kinda good. The undeniable answer is NOOOOOOO!!!!!

No, I'm saying this as a capper. You can't use the results of this season's first meeting at all here. Utah was without Williams and Cleveland was without Shaq. Also, it was Cleveland's 10th game of the year and Mike Brown still hadn't figured out all his new pieces yet. The Cavs are playing at an entirely different level right now and have proven their ability to get up for big games this year (a drastic change from last year).

Also, Utah is not a dog here. The game opened at a pick and it's Utah -1 at Pinnacle right now.

I'm not saying I love Cleveland in this spot, but I definitely don't think this game is worth anywhere close to 75 units.

they lost to the bulls at home as a big fave and beat the heat by 7. the jazz are 4-1 on thursdays and covered their tnt games easily.

You are referencing two games out of the Cavs first 10. If you have watched the Cavs play this year then you should know that the team you saw in those first 10-15 games is NOTHING like the team you are seeing now. Also, beating Miami on the road by 7 on the back end of a back-to-back is a fairly impressive showing.

So far the Cavs have blown out the Lakers, Magic, Hawks, and Suns all on the road.

The Cavs have also not lost after having 2 days of rest this year.

That's this year only sir LB!!! Cleveland and Lebron have been on TNT many times in the past prior to this year sir LB! That was also earlier this year and Cleveland is one of the most improved teams since then. The season is quite young yet!!

Agreed!! I never was questioning the pick myself, nor was I questioning your other pick. I like both plays. TNT does a good job of getting the average bettor upside down. I wouldn't be shocked if Chicago beat Boston on TNT. What would be better..

You keep calling me biased, and therefore discrediting my points, simply because I'm a Cavs fan, but you fail to see the other side of the coin. I would venture to guess that I know the Cavs better than anyone here. I've seen literally every minute of every game for the past 3 years. The Cavs team that has shown up for big games recently is by far the best they have ever been.

To counter your other points...
While the Denver game was certainly a letdown, it was foreseeable. The Cavs have had a difficult time gearing up for lesser opponents this year, which is exactly Denver was without Melo. It's been very apparent that they have approached certain games with a definite focus and gameplan and the Denver game wasn't one of them.

Beating the Kings in OT on the road is nothing to scoff at. The Kings have been very solid at home and I believe only had 4 home losses prior to that game.

As for the Portland and Golden State games, the games weren't nearly as close as the scores reflected.

Look, take Utah if you wish, but to put anything more than 2, maybe 3, units on this game is not a good idea.

yes i know thats an incredible amount to put on one game but i did the same when jazz faced the lakers and everyone was pounding the lakeshow, cavs beat lakers on the road on christmas day have been red hot and are at a pk on a televised game where there are only two to bet on and its the last one of the night people will go nuts over the cavs and jazz will cover or something very fishy will happen resulting jazz covering with extra help

Something else to keep in mind...

Shaq did not play in the first matchup this year and it helped lead to Utah outrebounding Cleveland by 10. Cleveland normally outrebounds opponents by 4-5 per game and that number has been even higher lately. Cleveland grabbed 28 boards in the first matchup, their season low. Don't expect that to happen again.

Williams im not discrediting anything you say. You cant be the authority on cavs games cause you watch them alot. Come on man. Did you think they were going to lose to Charlotte at home? I see your points but the denver game makes you sound like you are using excuses. The books got pummeled in the blazers game and the warriors game and they will get there money- mark my words. The public will pound the cavs all day and the jazz will cover. As for the unit amount i agree with you 100% . . I am a successfull gambler making moves on lines not trying to predict events. No matter what happens vegas always wins in the end. Boston did the same shit earlier in the year when they covered in San an and charlotte as big public favs but the books got there money back in DC. Just my 2 cents.

We like the play man!! Also, me and some others here pounded Utah against Lakers.. I felt way better about that game though as the Lakers were playing on a B2B and had just humilated Utah in the 4thQ. Utah, had the revenge angle and their powerhouse home court advantage.

The play is good, but don't mistake this as the same play as LA/Utah play because it's not as strong IMO.

This is a healthy debate IMHO.
Both sides have points:
*UTAH is really dangerous in @ home but not I think not much this season, they are just 4th overall in West for 14-6.
I think CLE can pull this win. I'm not a CLE fan, I am BOS fan, but with their performance this they are really monster. Blowing out on the road especially LAL really impressed me on how M.Brown glued this guys into one.
*UTAH loss 4 straight with their series with CLE.
*CLE is playing at their best this year.

Pulling that much units for this game is not really advisable.

I'm certainly not making excuses for the Cavs loss, it was dissapointing of course. However, I have not bet on the Cavs much against weaker teams this year in general. Also, while the Bobcats winning outright wasn't predictable, them covering the spread was if you look at how they matchup against Cleveland.

This is a very good thread. Everyone has made valid points. I think we are all trying to look out for you and each other. Money management plays a very big role in sports gambling as you probably already know. No one should ever bet 50% of their bankroll on one game, unless your Lang. I have to agree with you and the rest of you who are for Cavs -1, if this was last season or seasons past then I would agree that Utah is the way to go with this play, but this isn't the Cavs of the past anymore who were still trying to build that championship caliber team. Its obvious that this year the Cavs (as well as the Lakers) are on a mission to win and keep winning (especially against solid teams), they come out determined to win every game and with a 2 day rest as well as the game being nationally televised on TNT you know that Lebron and co. are going to come out strong and not let up one bit. Maybe use only half of that and spread the rest amongst other plays tomorrow and if you win then be happy with it, but if you were to lose then it would hurt so much more!
