with much respect to your handicapping skills and plays LB, I have to disagree with your reasoning for liking this game....it sounds like some homercapping going on.....
the Lakers are banged up and tired after last nights game. I think this is just another 1 of 82 game on the regular season schedule as far as the players are concerned and they just pasted the mavs by 30+ recently at home. why would the 3000'th franchise win motivate them on an opponents home court regardless if its the Cuban owned mavs? my opinion is the Lakers don't consider the Mavs as a rival team and they aren't any more motivated to win this one than the other 81 games on their schedule.
They didn't look very motivated last night going for the same record against an old and slow Spurs team. I think the only thing that motivates them is their paychecks cashing and championships which is my opinion of all NBA players. If they lose this game, they know it doesn't cost them either because the paychecks still cash and they are still in the playoff hunt for another championship. The players could give a rats ass about win number 3000 for the franchise. Phil Jackson included. with that said, the Mavs can't be trusted at home in the FAV spot either.
could the Lakers cover as a dog in this spot...maybe but it would have to be one healthy ass line (+10) or better to get any play from me.

For some reason I DO like the Lakers in this spot tonight.... Was all over SAS last night, and even though LAL on 2nd of b2b (didn't have to travel far), I just like em here.... They will come out and play extremely hard to get rid of last nights bad taste.... They want that 3000th win and also are trying to be the first team in the West to 30 W's on the season.
Dallas is nipping at their heels in the West with 25 wins so far... So I don't expect DAL to be a push over.... initial reports are Kobe is likely to tough it out through his "back spasms" but may see reduced minutes.... If Artest does not suit up though (sprained finger) and with Gasol not comming back till Friday, DAL would be the play imho....
Gonna have to wait till after the shoot around to have a better feeling on this one.Comment -

The Lakers were not on a losing streak of 4 in a row....they beat the Bucks on Sunday night. So LB was technically correct in saying that they won't lose 4 in a row.

There are WAY better games to bet than this one. I just cant take LA on the road right now, they have played 24 home games and 14 road games, and are 8-6 on the road, and are injured this isnt the same team that won a camionship last year. Mavs aren healthy, Dampier and Gooden both "iffy" according to KTCK-AM The Ticket. Mavs havent been all that hot at home this year like years past either. 1. I will say it again, Lakers play poorly in the 1st game of a road trip (last night). You can look that up and go back as far as last season.
2. They play well in the games that follow.
3. Lakers can't beat elite teams without help inside (Gasol)
4. Kobe is playing hurt, he left the game in the Q3 last night.
5. They have the whole season to break the 3000 win mark. I'm sure the Zen master doesn't care about breaking it tonight. This argument is out. It's more important to keep the players healthy down the stretch.
If Kobe plays the entire 60 minutes, they may cover the spread. If he doesn't, you are screwed.
If Kobe and Gasol both out, they have no chance. You are screwed.
