No i'm not stirring up anything. I knew Phil was dumb enough to keep Fisher on Ray for game 2 because he "thought" it worked just because LA won game 1 and Ray was in foul trouble.

Every smart coach like Pop knows that you start with Bryant on Allen and move Bryant to Rondo once Fisher leaves the game. If Ray gets going early its over and he'll destroy Fisher off screens and off the dribble.

This just shows how Phil was content after game 1 and didn't take the time to make proper adjustments. Don't even start about the rings boy. The guy is a great coach, one of the best ever, but he's not smart, PERIOD.

If Odom doesn't get a double double next game I guarantee the Lakers lose. I will have to study the tape more.

Comments: Los Angeles was an impressive 13-point, 102-89, winner in the first game of this series and tonight goes for their 10th straight home playoff win of this post-season. They may get it but it won’t come easily this time around. Los Angeles coach Phil Jackson completely surprised Boston in the first game, giving up much of his famous triangle offense and went to a traditional pick-and-roll. It caught the Celtics by surprise and they really never adjusted to it. In addition to this the Lakers’ defense closed down the middle and forced Boston to take shots they did not want. When it was over Boston had it just 10.0% of its three-pointers. You can take it to the bank Boston will make adjustments and be prepared for anything tonight, will come with a dramatically increased intensity and will take this one right to the money.

In reviewing game one, the keys to that big win was the confusion Los Angeles delivered to Boston by unexpectedly chucking its storied triangle offense. One can review that game over and again and realize the Celtics had come with a defense to stop the triangle offense and were befuddled with what they were facing.
Then there was the issue of Boston hitting just 10.0% of its 3-point attempts—this for a team that on a bad night will hit in the mid-30s.
All at once the +6.0 looked quite inviting. One had to know Boston would not be locked into any particular game plan and would be mentally prepared to make an immediate adjustment, regardless of what the Lakers did. It was also reasonable to expect the Celtics’ 3-point shooting to gravitate to the norm.
These two things made the underdog the play and the rest is history. Boston was ready to play and was far more intense and prepared for the Lakers than the latter were for the Celtics. Boston had its head together on offense and hit 11-of-16 (68.8%) of its 3-point baskets, with guard Ray Allen hitting a record eight.
The lessons coming from this win are obvious.

1.Good teams, especially veteran teams can make the adjustments from one game to the next to be very competitive.
2.When a team that hits its 3-point shots at an average in the high 30s or low 40s hits 10% in one game you can expect it to regress to the mean in its next outing.
3.It is necessary to determine—especially at the NBA championship level—why a team won or lost a single game and project what it will do in its next game.

The Celtics are 2.5-point favorites over the Lakers in Tuesday night’s game in Boston.

"He got a lot of publicity with that monstrous 29-point, 18-rebound, 13-assist triple-double against Cleveland, but this may have been the most impactful performance of his career. In what had to be considered an absolute “must’’ game, he was the maestro from start to finish, making plays that no other point guard alive can make.

Among his contributions once the Celtics found themselves behind, 90-87, with 5:21 remaining:


■A drive to make it 90-89.


■A pickup of a Gasol blocked shot and subsequent lefty layup to give the Celtics a nonrefundable 91-90 lead. (<--that was my favorite play)


■A steal from Bryant.


■A great blocked shot on the estimable Fisher, who has made so many big ones in his illustrious career. (<--that was my second-favorite play)


■And the killer, a 17-foot jumper to make it 95-90, Boston, with 1:51 remaining.

He made the elbow shot,’’ said Rivers. “I’m thinking Mark Price is somewhere celebrating. He took a million shots this summer, and he didn’t hesitate, and that was my favorite shot for him.’’
