Galatasaray @ Efes Pilsen (Turkey Basketball - 20 Nov. 2009)
    [LEAGUE: Turkey Basketball League],

    [FORECAST: Efes Pilsen -10.5],

REASON: Galatasaray is in deep trouble as they are facing a possible expulsion from the Turkish League as a result of including a suspended player in their roster for their last game against Fenerbahce. Despite defeating Fenerbahce in the local derby, the celebrations did not last too long . The scandal broke out early this week right after Fenerbahce submitted a formal complaint to the Turkish Basketball Federation.

Galatasaray immediately fired their entire coaching stuff and management in charge of basketball operations. In short, everything is shattered at the club's basketball branch right now. They don't even have a coach to lead them against a very very tough opponent, arguably the best team in the league right now, in Efes Pilsen.

Plus they will not have Cemal Nalga, the man in the middle of the scandal (he was the suspended player), who was one of their limited options for the center position. The significance of Nalga's contribution was evident in the Fenerbahce game where he did an excellent job of battling with Semih Erden, Oguz Savas and Omer Asik under the basket.

Efes Pilsen has a deep squad. As being a pioneer in Turkish basketball, they always set high goals and bring quality players. Their squad has so much depth and talent. Players like Shumpert, Thornton, Smith, Kasun, Rakocevic, and Nachbar are great players even for Euro League standards. When this foreign talent meshes well with Turkish nationals (Kaya Peker, Sinan Guler, Kerem Tunceri, Ender Arslan), it becomes almost impossible to beat Efes in the Turkish League.

Efes beat Besiktas on the road last weekend in front of a hostile crowd. They are able to destroy this shattered Galatasaray team. I estimate the margin of victory to be in double digits, so Efes will cover the spread.
