IMO not as important as a solid bullpen in mlb, but still a factor to take into account. A bad bench gives momentum to the opponent that sometimes can be hard to claw back. Lakers 2nds blew a 15 point lead in 4 minutes against the clippers and then had to get the big boys back on to get things back on track.

Cleveland's bench blows chunks... Whenever Lebron is on the bench, Cleveland goes to shit.

I think bench play is under valued. It's very important IMO.

thanks for the replies I will start looking more at stats on nba bench players. This seems easy to do however I was wondering how do you measure perfomance of bench players o-line and d-line in football?

starters out or not 100% and the whole game plan and rotation changes

Especially when betting a dog you want a good bench, you need some one who can pull up and hit that cheap 3 at the end to get the backdoor cover, and like some mentioned above some teams go to shit when a star player has to sit down.
