Basketbll Parlay of the Day - Wednesday, 3/21/07

SBR will give the winner of the March Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest a sparkling new 19-inch LCD DVI Monitor! For those of you unfamiliar with the contest, here are the rules:


Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok. You have until five minutes before tip time of your first game to post the selections. Also note that all plays will now be graded against a uniform line! I will post the lines from Pinnacle at approximately 11 AM ET each day. Those of you wishing to make selections before then may do so without posting your lines, and they will be graded against my posted lines.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will keep two sets of standings: the Official Standings will be based on parlay units won/lost, and the secondary standings will be on a game-by-game basis ranked by winning percentage.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

The player with the most units won after the games of March 31 will win the winner-take-all grand prize. Note that you must play at least 15 days (30 plays) during the month to qualify for the prize! In case of a tie in units, the tiebreaker will be the better winning percentage. If still tied, the contest will be extended with the tied players making one parlay selection per day at the start of April until the tie is broken. NO PASSES will be allowed during this extension period, and any of the tied players doing so will be eliminated regardless of the other player(s) results for that day.

Tie breakers:
Will be decided by win % of individual parlay legs. 2nd tiebreaker is based on additional daily parlays until one person breaks tie.

15 parlays must be made in the month.

All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.

SBR will pick a DVI LCD monitor that is features on this page when winner is decided.

Toronto just got blown out and have had a few days to think about and believe they have the right mind set

"We haven't had too many games where we just got it handed to us like it did today," Bosh said. "We just can't get too caught up in this, because if we do I think it will carry over to other games and we don't want to do that."


The Raptors have won the last three meetings overall with the Magic and five in a row at home.

I just don't see Orlando winning two in a row on the road especially versus a Raptors team who is extremely focused after losing two in a row..

Raptors look like the play.


Syracuse/Clemson Over 142.5
Both teams play fast paced and could reach 170 if it's a foulfest.

Hard to go against the Blue Demons in this one... After seeing them pull of the upset the other night against KState, them getting 7 against the Plane Flyers seems pretty solid to me... I know Air Force is tough at home, but I think Depaul keeps this one close and maybe pulls off another upset tonight!

Clemson -3.5
Tough to go against the CUSE here, but the Tigers get them out of the Carrier Dome and into Little John Colesium... I think the Tigers cover the small spread here againt the Orange... Syracuse is more than capable of winning this game, but they have not been good on the road all year! We'll roll against em here tonight!

Banking on the 2-3 zone giving the Tigers fits. This will be one of the best defenses they've faced all year. Clemson is also just 6-12-1 ATS at home.

under @ BOS Bobbers should be totally spent -- have serious potential to flirt with 75 for the game. Counting on Celts to play to level of opposition, as in SAN.

under @ MIL Another Coach K under, against Clipper team that just proved something and could be ready to coast.

I love teams coming off 2 days rest. Miami is 10-3 ATS in this scenario this year.

Dallas/Cleveland Over 186

I have no statistics to throw out there for this one. It's just a gut feeling. I think it's up and down the floor most of the night and the total easily pushes 200.

Hawks +4.5 and Raptors -5.5 - Since in this parlay contest the race is now for place, I will be playing an angle I've never tried before, the one where I go against Florida teams on the first day of spring, as the northern part of North America population begins to feel more empowered on this day that good weather is headed thier way, and not a Florida monopoly (even if Georgia really isn't that far north of Florida).

Should be a shootout for the playoff atmosphere, both teams with good Over records in March & in tourney play. Both have gone low when up against formidable competition & I know most won't agree with this, but I'm rollin with trying to beat a low posted total involving two teams that are gonna ball.

LAC+6.5
Seems they're clicking on all cylinders now, should be on a confidence high & getting points vs team they have played well in the past.

Atlanta +4.5 - Atlanta getting no respect here, they've been defending their home court well, and are trying to achieve respectability after being terrible earlier on. They care about this game and will fight even if they get down. If the game does happen to come down to the wire, 4.5 leaves good room for a cover even if they lose a close one.

LAC/Mil under 196 - New emphasis on D for Mil, and LAC is very willing to play those types of games, especially on back-to-backs. Mil's rep as a high-scoring team is keeping this total a bit too high.
