Basketball Parlay of the Day - Thursday, 3/15/07
SBR will give the winner of the March Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest a sparkling new 19-inch LCD DVI Monitor! For those of you unfamiliar with the contest, here are the rules:

Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok. You have until five minutes before tip time of your first game to post the selections. Also note that all plays will now be graded against a uniform line! I will post the lines from Pinnacle at approximately 11 AM ET each day. Those of you wishing to make selections before then may do so without posting your lines, and they will be graded against my posted lines.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will keep two sets of standings: the Official Standings will be based on parlay units won/lost, and the secondary standings will be on a game-by-game basis ranked by winning percentage.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

The player with the most units won after the games of March 31 will win the winner-take-all grand prize. Note that you must play at least 15 days (30 plays) during the month to qualify for the prize! In case of a tie in units, the tiebreaker will be the better winning percentage. If still tied, the contest will be extended with the tied players making one parlay selection per day at the start of April until the tie is broken. NO PASSES will be allowed during this extension period, and any of the tied players doing so will be eliminated regardless of the other player(s) results for that day.

    Good Luck to All!

    Fine Print:

1 entry per household and IP address.

Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits

    Tie breakers:
Will be decided by win % of individual parlay legs. 2nd tiebreaker is based on additional daily parlays until one person breaks tie.

15 parlays must be made in the month.

All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.

SBR will pick a DVI LCD monitor that is features on this page when winner is decided.

      Michigan St -2

Marquette is without McNeal and Michigan St should get a lot of Rebounds in this game.. Big East is not all that..

      Denver -4

Lakers are a mess and simply aren't that good. Early success was due to abundant amount of Home Games..

        ODU +1.5
I love ODU here they have good guard play and have this 7'3 european kid who can play. After watching Butler play it's Conference tourney it just seemed like for them every game was a tough one to win.
        Winthrop +pts
I usually don't go with the public, however I actually think there right on this one. Winthrop won the Big South and is natonally ranked, great guard play, and move the ball up and down the court. Would not be shocked at all if they win this one OUTRIGHT!

ODU +2 My favorit 12/5 matchup. Butler was hot early but faded late. ODU was very strong down the strech. They played the tougher schedule and are a bigger more physical team.

MSU -2 MSU played the tougher schedule. MArquette without Jerel McNeal. Tom Izzo.

No analysis whatsoever. A homer pick. Beat the hell outta' Penn, WHOOP!

                Vanderbilt -3½ vs George Washington
Love the Commodores to make the Sweet 16, and really like them here laying just a long-range bomb and half a technical.

Maryland -7: Davidson has won a lot of games in a row and a lot of games this year, but none against anyone this good.

Butler -2: Seems everyone is on ODU here and I'm not sure why. Sure Butler didn't play as well in conference, but they had no motivation.

Old Dominion +2 After starting on fire, Butler hasn't been the same as of late. Old Dom can take this game if they want to.

Vanderbilt -3.5 A lot of people are on George Washington because of the miracle run last year but there won't be a repeat this time around. Vandy should take this easily.

Heat +1.5 - Have no intention of going against a team on a roll like the Heat to get on a team that hails out of the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division.

Va Commonwealth +6 - With Laettner and Hurley expected to sit this one out, Coach K will have to call on all his coaching ability to avoid a first round dismissal, I'll take the points.

                            Indiana -1.5

Indian slows the game down tonight and grinds it out. The Zags will struggle.

                            Georgetown -16

I don't know much about Belmont, but Georgetown is a very strong 2 seed. Look for Georgetown to win by 20+

George Washington/Vanderbilt Under 141: Yes the Colonials went Over in their 78-69 win over Rhode Island in the Atlantic 10 Championship Game, but that snapped a streak of four consecutive Unders. All George Washington games this season are averaging a combined 135.3 points, and you can bet that GW does not want to get into a track meet with the Commodores. Now Vanderbilt has gone Over with regularity as of late, but it also avoided the better defensive teams in the SEC while doing so. The last time the Dores faced a defensive-minded team was four games ago vs. Kentucky, and that game produced just 132 points. We see this game topping out at around that figure, with a final total in the upper 120s more likely.

Virginia Commonwealth/Duke Under 134: Duke is not nearly as strong as in past seasons, as evidenced by its 22-10 record, but the Blue Devils defense has been the best part of the team. That unit allowed just 61.5 points per game on 42.2 percent shooting on the year, a feat that is more impressive when you consider the tough ACC schedule. Virginia Commonwealth was no slouch defensively during the regular year either, surrendering just 64.8 points per game. Finally the Under is now 41-20 in the last 61 Duke non-conference games, which makes sense when you consider that the defense usually has an easier time stopping non-ACC foes, so expect the same tonight.

                                Michigan St -2

The terrible Big Ten gets a couple W's plus covers today. I don't understand the love for a team that doesn't play D (Gonzaga) and will fade them. Indiana's problems come against teams that defend but they won't have to worry about here.

Michigan St is just an underrated team and you have to love fading a team with a point guard that shoots about 10% from the floor and 25% from the FT line (ok I'm exaggerating but James can be terrible). I'll put my $$ with Izzo and Neitzel here.

Everyone has been predicting them to be upset just because they did not play that well late in the season... I think the Bulldogs right the ship today and advance to play Maryland on Saturday! Think the Bulldogs will be ready to play today! Let's Go Bulldogs!

The Hoosiers will play the inside-outside game with the Zags tonight and look for Rod Wilmont, AJ Ratliff, and Armon Bassett to light it up from 3-point range! Another game that the whole country is on Gonzaga, but I'm not buyin into it... If Indiana plays solid defense like the know how and hit shots then they win this one handily... Let's Go Hoosiers!!!

ODU +2 - I'll take the ODU side in this one. ODU has the guard play to match Butler and an advantage on the inside.

Marquette/Michigan St over 122.5 - These teams should be able to score enough to get over this very low total.
