Basketball Parlay of the Day - Monday, 3/5/07
SBR will give the winner of the March Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest a sparkling new 19-inch LCD DVI Monitor! Keep in mind guys that I WANT to win this thing myself, so you all better bring your "A" games to beat me!!

For those of you unfamiliar with the contest, here are the rules:

Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok. You have until five minutes before tip time of your first game to post the selections. Also note that all plays will now be graded against a uniform line! I will post the lines from Pinnacle at approximately 11 AM ET each day. Those of you wishing to make selections before then may do so without posting your lines, and they will be graded against my posted lines.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will keep two sets of standings: the Official Standings will be based on parlay units won/lost, and the secondary standings will be on a game-by-game basis ranked by winning percentage.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

The player with the most units won after the games of March 31 will win the winner-take-all grand prize. Note that you must play at least 15 days (30 plays) during the month to qualify for the prize! In case of a tie in units, the tiebreaker will be the better winning percentage. If still tied, the contest will be extended with the tied players making one parlay selection per day at the start of April until the tie is broken. NO PASSES will be allowed during this extension period, and any of the tied players doing so will be eliminated regardless of the other player(s) results for that day.

Good Luck to All (but not too much...I need a new monitor!)

    Fine Print:

1 entry per household and IP address.

Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits

    Tie breakers:
Will be decided by win % of individual parlay legs. 2nd tiebreaker is based on additional daily parlays until one person breaks tie.

15 parlays must be made in the month.

All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.

SBR will pick a DVI LCD monitor that is features on this page when winner is decided.

Favorites prevail in these two championship games. George Mason runs out of steam playing their 4th game in 4 days against a team that smoked them twice this year. Gonzaga gets a big dose of revenge against a team that gave them the wake up call they needed to finish the year strong. I would imagine Few has reminded his guys over and over this team dropped 84 on them and will have them ready to go.

Orlando -5.5 and Mil/Orl under 200 - After a road trip that included Chi, Den, SA and Dal, this game will feel like a walk in the park for Orlando. Orlando crushed the Bucks last time they played here albeit Mil was without Redd. This will be Redd's first back to back game situation since returning from injury, not expecting any repeats of last night's 52 point performance.

San Antonio -6.5: Playing the best ball in the league as of late (along w/ the Mavs), I don't expect the Clippers to put up much of a fight and predict a double digit win for SA.

VCU -4: George Mason will be playing its fourth game in four nights, no cinderella story this year.

MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE/NORTH TEXAS OVER 132: This seems like a low posted total for a game involving North Texas, as Eagle games are averaging a combined 149.4 points this season. Sure the UNDER is 11-4-1 in the last 16 UNT games overall, but none of those games had a posted total this low. In fact 14 of the 16 games during this stretch produced final point totals of 136 or more. Now the reason for this small number is that Middle Tennessee is much more methodical, and Blue Raider games are averaging just 127.3 points this year. More recently however, four of the last five MTSU games have seen a combined final score of 136 points or more.

MIAMI HEAT -6: So just who IS the MVP of this Miami team? The Heat suffered what was deemed to be a crippling injury when Wade was injured, but Shaq has found the Fountain of Youth in his absence! This team is now 4-1 ATS in the last five games with outright upsets of Detroit, Cleveland and Washington, and Miami is also 7-1 ATS in the last eight head-to-head meetings with the Hawks. Atlanta has hit the skids as of late losing five consecutive games SU and seven of its last eight, and the Hawks are losing their road games this season by an average of -7.1 points per game.

Spurs -6.5- Spurs are playing exceptionally well. I normally don't like playing them to cover as often as I have lately, but I'm going to give them one more game.

Orlando -5.5- 2 teams going facing two separate scenarios. Milwaukee coming off a tough OT loss to Chicago, in which Redd shot his load. Now they get to travel to Orlando, to play a team who must be relieved to be home after playing a brutal road stretch... I like Orlando to win this one handily.

(P.S. if I was going with a college parlay, I'd play Ok.St and the Under of 133.5 in that game. 66-58 type of game, I'd think. But, I'm going with the NBA parlay.)

San Antonio: Clippers just don't have it this year. Their first real challenge since the livingston injury.

Milwaukee They are a different team when Redd plays. Even when they lose they have been playing teams close. Orlando has picked it up lately but has been a below .500 team since their fast start.

VCU -3.5 G.Mason is not the same team they were last year. This spread has gone from -3 to -4.5 on some books, where people have realized 3 points is too small a spread for the Rams here. I was looking for this to open something like -7.5 VCU. This is a Home Game for VCU,the Coliseum here in Richmond is only about 10 city blocks from the Rams home court.
VCU-G.M. Over 129 VCU has consistently gone over this year in totals larger than this. I'm looking for VCU to score around 75. As long as Mason doesn't throw up like a 49 pointer, I see this one going over.

First time posting. Kind of new to the sportsbetting thing, but have had a little of beginners luck. So I thought I would try it here too.

San Antonio/LA Clippers Over 174: Although the past two San Antonio games have been under 174, barely. I believe the Clippers are more of a run and gun type team. I believe that they will get beat by the Spurs but they will score over 75 and the Spurs will definetly score over 100.

VCU -3.5:Both times these two teams have meet this year VCU has won by double digits. Plus George Mason having to play 4 times in 4 days. I just don't think they will have enough juice to beat VCU.

Siena beat Niagara by 12 on their home floor and by 11 @ Niagara... Siena finally got over the hump last night against Marist... I think their hot shooting continues and they get back to big dance and cover in the process!

                          North Texas -2
The Mean Green got their bad play out of their system in the 1st half yesterday against LA-Monroe... North Texas won the only meeting between these two teams this year by 13... The Mean Green get it done tonight and look forward to a showdown with the Hilltoppers!

Mil/Orl under 200 - After a tough high-scoring OT game yesterday, Milwaukee will be in for an offensive letdown vs. Orlando who will probably try to clamp down on D due to poor play in general. In January Mil went into Orl after having played the day before and only scored 73 points. True, Redd was out for that game, but a similar scenario might be in store here.

Atl/Mia under 185.5 - Miami likes to go under at home, and with Wade out and Shaq in they are now playing a Riley-directed methodical brand of ball that is producing scores in the 160s and 170s. Atlanta is likely to oblige Miami's style preference.

Gonzaga/Santa Clara over 145 Gonzaga is fourth in the nation in scoring and are averaging around 84 points in the last four wins. Both times that these two teams met, they covered 145 points.

Golden State +11.5 Golden State is terrible. They've lost 6 in a row and 10 out of 15, by an average of 14 points in those ten games. I look for Golden State to hit a meaningless 3 at the buzzer to lose by 11.

u185.5@MIA Heat have not surrendered 90 at home in forever. Hawks, who are better on the road, should stay in the game for a while. Should avoid a romp by MIA and hope to dodge OT.

u204 @ UTH Was puzzled by the 206 for last night's Bobbers game @ SEA, and equally puzzled here. CHA has let a couple of teams run wild, but they should be determined to avoid the 0-fer trip, and close game means under here. Lots of points to work with.

First play: Clippers and Spurs, Over 174
Although the line moved slight downward now to 173.5, c'mon - 174 is really 87 vs 87. They can easily blow past this total, with or without livingston.

Second play:Nebraska +1 over Oklahoma State
Fact that OS did not win a road game do not justify their favorite status, I'll take value and put it on Nebraska.

                                        Nebraska +1, Cleveland -3

Oklahoma State is not any good on the road this year, chalk up another loss for the Pokes.

Rockets last game on the road is a good indication of looking ahead to Yao coming back very soon. Cavs win by double digits.
