Basketball Parlay of the Day - Friday, 3/2/07
SBR will give the winner of the March Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest a sparkling new 19-inch LCD DVI Monitor! Keep in mind guys that I WANT to win this thing myself, so you all better bring your "A" games to beat me!!

For those of you unfamiliar with the contest, here are the rules:

Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok. You have until five minutes before tip time of your first game to post the selections. Also note that all plays will now be graded against a uniform line! I will post the lines from Pinnacle at approximately 11 AM ET each day. Those of you wishing to make selections before then may do so without posting your lines, and they will be graded against my posted lines.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will keep two sets of standings: the Official Standings will be based on parlay units won/lost, and the secondary standings will be on a game-by-game basis ranked by winning percentage.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

The player with the most units won after the games of March 31 will win the winner-take-all grand prize. Note that you must play at least 15 days (30 plays) during the month to qualify for the prize! In case of a tie in units, the tiebreaker will be the better winning percentage. If still tied, the contest will be extended with the tied players making one parlay selection per day at the start of April until the tie is broken. NO PASSES will be allowed during this extension period, and any of the tied players doing so will be eliminated regardless of the other player(s) results for that day.

Good Luck to All (but not too much...I need a new monitor!)

    Fine Print:

1 entry per household and IP address.

Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits

    Tie breakers:
Will be decided by win % of individual parlay legs. 2nd tiebreaker is based on additional daily parlays until one person breaks tie.

15 parlays must be made in the month.

All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.

SBR will pick a DVI LCD monitor that is features on this page when winner is decided.

Austin Peay -2.5 AP has beaten Samford both times they have played this year and I think that Austin Peay wins this one and hopefully covers... Like this one...

Denver Nuggets -2.5 The Nuggets need to get this one @ home against a pretty good Rockets team that has been struggling lately... IMO the Rockets won't be able to keep up with the firepower of the Nuggets... Seems that Iverson and Melo might be hittin their stride at the right time...

        Good luck to everyone today!

HORNETS/BULLS UNDER 192: These teams have a history of playing rather low scoring games here in Chicago, and we look for that to continue tonight. In fact the last four head-to-head meetings in the Windy City have produced combined point totals of 178, 184, 173 and 188 points respectively, all safely below this posted total. The Bulls have also gone UNDER in six of their last seven games overall. The Hornets are actually scoring a lot of points lately, but we do not expect them to have that same success here vs. a Chicago defense that is limiting its home opponents to just 41.8 percent shooting from the field.

PEPPERDINE +5: Pepperdine may have been just 8-22 SU for the season, but it does have a bit of momentum here after upsetting Santa Clara in the season finale. Conversely San Diego stumbled home despite its 16-13 mark, going 4-6 SU in the last ten games. Sure Pepperdine is a bad road team, but the Terreros were no great shakes away from home either, going 6-8 SU while getting outscored by an average of 3.0 points per game. We actually would not be shocked by an upset here, so we will gladly grab these points.

                  Golden State +5.5

I look for the Warriors to play the Knicks very tough tonight. Warriors just getting blown out in their last game vs. the Bulls should come out with some energy tonight against a very shaky Knicks team

                  Bradley -1.5

Bradley will be hungry, with revenge on their minds today versus Northern Iowa. I look for them to win this game by 7+

Play #3: Toronto Raptors -5.0 vs Milwakee Bucks
Raptors played brilliant ball lately, and judging by the performance playing the Rockets the other evening, the salami and cheese can be taken out with 5 minutes left in 4th qtr.

Play #4: Denver Nuggers -2.5 vs Houston Rockets
Rockets has struggled lately, and should not be able to steal one on the road versus Denver.

Orlando +11 1/2 - Will Orlando bust up a 6 game winning streak tonight, and a 14 game winning streak at Dallas tomorrow night? They're in the middle of a very tough stretch at the moment, but showed they came on the road to play with a win at Chicago two games back. They beat SA last month at home, and if they're not looking past SA to the game against Dallas tomorrow, ha ha, they'll play tough tonight.

Orlando/SA over 185 1/2 - Orlando has been scoring nicely on Friday nights so far in 2007, the only game they've scored fewer than 90 on a Friday was 89 points against Detroit. The over should be a breeze in this one.

Indiana Pacers - Indiana's last game was Tuesday against the Suns, and the Pacers blew an 18-point lead to fall 103-92 as a 5-point dog. That was the 3rd straight loss for Rick Carlisle's crew, and they failed to cover each of those games. But Phoenix is banged up, with Boris Diaw and Shawn Marion likely to miss this game. And their absence certainly contributed to the Suns' 99-94 loss to Philly on Wednesday. The Pacers are fighting to make the playoffs and desperately want to snap their losing streak, while the Suns know, in the back of their minds, that they're pretty much locked into the #2 spot out West.

Golden State Warriors - New York, is hurting (literally) right now, as leading scorer Jamal Crawford will miss the rest of the year and leading rebounder David Lee also looks to be out for tonight's game. Without those two key players, I look for Golden State to snap its 4-game losing streak tonight.

milwaukee + 5 - 105 Milwaukee back to full strength, won 2 straight, look for Bucks to pull the upset.

golden state + 5.5 - 113 Knicks shorthanded, GS in the midst of a terrible road trip, expect a good effort here, and GS to win outright

TENNESSEE TECH -2.5 They are playing really good ball winning 5 of last 6 SU. They beat E Kenty by 22 earlier in the year and actually outplayed them and only lost by 2 at E Kenty.

Personally, i think this should have been a bigger spread that this. St Peters is just not doing anything this year(5-24)...and now that games really have value...Canisius is gonna show up, run over, back up, and run over again.

                                    Golden State Warriors +5.5
Holy burger...Knicks are just in a rut. Top scorer Jamal Crawford is out, their sophmore hero David Lee is out, their premier backup guard Nate Robinson is out, and worst off, their game controller and top assister Stephon Marbury is out. I know this is a great home team but this only spells out disaster...why are they still the favorites! Oh well, more money for me!

Chicago Bulls -6: New Orleans is a solid and underated team, but Chicago it's at their best at home and should win this one easily.

                                            ATLANTA
A team with little road-court disavantage, Hawks should be ready to go the full 48 against Wiz team that plays to opponent's level.

                                            TORONTO

The much better team, rested, at home, at full strength, vs strugging oppoent having transportation trouble. Autoplay.

Rider -4.5: Iona won just one conference game all year--against Rider. I like Rider to get their revenge in a big way tonight, easily covering the spread in the process.

Utah/Minnesota Under 196.5: The Wolves are coming off a miserable game against the Mavs in which they scored a combined 20 pts. in the 2nd and 4th Q. Even with their scoring problems of late, they still play solid defense, and they are facing a banged up Jazz squad that will have difficulty reaching 100 due to various injuries. With Williams, Okur, and Kirilenko all likely to play but still not 100%, I look for this one to fall well below the total.

I'll be taking today off. For the record (this DOES NOT count on this parlay contest) but I like S.A. -11.5 and the Under of 185.5. Again, this DOES NOT count. GL to all.
