Basketball Parlay of the Day - Thursday, 2/22/07
Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will do the standings for the month of February at least.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

Throwing two eggs into one basket...

      Rice +22½ at Memphis
Just too big a number. Expect Memphis to win by 15 and start giving some more minutes to a few reserves in the second half.

      Rice/Memphis Under 141½
Since the final 72-57 comes to mind first, got to play the under with this one.

Wright St -2.5- Let's get this out of the way. Wright St. is not a good road team. But, they've been in a groove as of late, having won 9 in a row (including a 4-0 road record with average margin of victory being 10 points in those contests). This is the last reg. season game for Wright St., who currently sits atop the Horizon League standings, and they need this game (and the momentum that would come with a victory) badly. Youngstown St. will try to play the role of spolier, but will come up short. Wright St. by 6+

Southern Cal -5.5- A revenge game, plain and simple, but (and this was brought up in the 'Motivation' thread) this involves a superior team (USC) seeking to avenge a loss to an inferior opponent in which the superior team gave the game away (by shooting a miserable 28%). I expect big things from So. Cal. tonight, and don't see any way they don't win by less than 10 at home.

I actually feel pretty damn good about this parlay.

Cleveland Cavs -3: Cleveland played and won at Toronto last night, and should win again tonight at home against Chicago. The Bulls are just 7-19-1 ATS on the road this year and even though they come in rested off a blowout win at home on tuesday they should lose tonight. Cleveland will also be looking for revenge after losing at Chicago in late December.

            Miami Heat +13:
The Heat will play their first game without Wade here and I believe the line has been adjusted too much. It opened at 7.5 yesterday before Wade got hurt, and though his absence has meant a ton to the Heat this year, 5.5 pts is too much of a move. While Dallas is 24-3 at home this year, they are only 14-11-2 ATS. Miami is facing tough back to backs in Texas after playing Houston last night, but Dallas has not played since the all star break and may be a little rusty tonight. I'll take the points.

              Wright St. -2.5

Wright St. is 11-3-1 ATS in the horizon league this year. They also need a win to keep the pressure on Butler. Wright St. rolls tonight.

              Duke -1

I expect a close one tonight. And if it comes down to foul shooting Clemson has been awful the past few season, this season they sit right at 60%. Look for Duke to pull it out late, even if they have to bribe the clock operator.

St. Joseph's -4: To me, this line is about 5-6 points off. I can't see Temple keeping this game close. They have struggled mightily on the road in conference play, with their only win coming against last-place Richmond. While this isn't the Hawks' strongest squad in recent years, they are still tough at home, with wins over conference co-leader Xavier, as well as an underrated Bucknell team.

Louisiana Tech -1: Tech's 9-17 record is deceiving. They played an extraordinarily difficult non-conference schedule. In league play they have been very competitive. Fresno's record, on the otherhand, is equally deceiving. Their 18-8 mark is impressive, but they played nowhere near the same caliber teams out of conference as La. Tech. These teams are very equal, as evidenced by Fresno's narrow 6 pt. win at home. I think Tech returns the favor tonight on their homecourt.

                    USC -5
Revenge game at its best and @ home too! I see USC running away with this game. Plain and simple USC is the better team and looks to make an example of Stanford.

                    Dalls -12

Wade out tonight for the Heat. Revenge factor for the Mavs. The Heat are going to try and slow it down tonight and against Dallas by sending it down low and inside to Shaq, I dont think it works for the Heat, Shaq just isnt ready yet. I think that Dallas at home will be to much for the Heat and Dallas STOMPS all over Miami tonight.
