Basketball Parlay of the Day - Sunday, 2/11/07
Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will do the standings for the month of February at least.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

I'll try predicting the scores again since it worked on Saturday.

    UCONN +7
I've got a feeling this could be a play that I look back and say, WTF was I thinking? But this number seems to be a little inflated, as UCONN is the better defensive and rebounding team. Its road struggles have been mostly on the road at experienced teams. Georgia Tech is nearly as young as the Huskies, and the Jackets are more of a slashing team than a shooting team. That is not the way to be successful against UCONN's shot blockers. I also like that UCONN has finally begun making some open jumpers.
    Georgia Tech 64, UCONN 61

    Washington -2.5
The home team totally owns this series, and Washington was leading for about 37 minutes at Stanford earlier this season. They collapsed down the stretch, and I don't think they've forgotten that loss. The Huskies are a different animal at home, and while Stanford has been playing well, they are starting to come back down to earth a little. If it's a close game, UW isn't likely to miss its free throws and blow the cover.
    Washington 78, Stanford 69

    Good luck everyone!

Sienna -6.5---playing an atrocious Sr. Pete team. On their current 16 game losing streak, St. Pete has kept it within 6.5 points only 4 times.

Marist -6.5---playing an equally bad 1-23 Iona team that lost by 22 at Marist a month ago. Home court doesn't matter when your fanbase has had the life sucked out of it.

LOS ANGELES LAKERS +4.5: This is the last game of an eight-game Eastern road trip for the Lakers, and they would like to end on a positive note by evening their record on the trip to 4-4 here. They should have no problem getting motivated for this nationally televised Kobe vs. LeBron tilt, and simply put a motivated Laker team is better than ANY Eastern Conference squad. The Cavaliers have been coming up short vs. the better Western teams all season, including a home loss to Phoenix in another of these TV games a few weeks ago, so we would not be at all surprised by an outright Lakers upset here.

MAVERICKS/76ERS UNDER 188: This one is a trend-lovers dream, as the UNDER is 12-5-1 in the last 18 Dallas road games and 18-8-1 in the last 27 Philadelphia games vs. the Southwest Division. These clubs have gone UNDER in three of their last four head-to-head meetings, with an average combined total score in the three UNDERS of just 183.6 points. Moreover those games all came when the 76ers were getting some scoring punch from the departed Allen Iverson.

          Kent State/W.Michigan Over 134.5
Western Michigan has gone over in 7 of 8 home games this season. Kent has gone under in 8 of their last 10. Something has to give and with the history in the recent series of totals not going any lower than 136, I'm hoping that the over streak continues.

          Fairfield +4.5
Our very own LT pointed out the other day how well MAAC dogs have done and that Loyola MD is not a good ATS team at home. They are just 2-7 ATS at home while Fairfield is 8-6 ATS on the road, including four straight covers. They also have a history of winning straight up on the road in this series.

Rhode Island @ Duquesne: Over 173

Duquesne started playing a 10 man rotation 6 games ago with a full court press most of the game. In those 6 games they are averaging 98.5 pts per game and allowing 95 pts per game. All 6 games have gone over by an average of 32.25 pts. I wouldn't normally go over a total this high in college hoops, but Duquesne has had sucess with this new system (5-1 straight up and 6-0 ATS) and I expect another good effort here today.

Sacramento Kings -4: Sacramento beat Seattle last night on the road and should win again tonight at home where they have always played better.

o207 @ PHX This has dropped from 212, creating very good value. It is a complete myth that the Suns are appreciably less capable of the high pace and high scoring without Nash.

u207.5 @SAC See yesterday's thread. Same reasons apply. Last night the Kings jumped out quickly, but most of the game was played at an under pace. Familiarity should breed a more grinding second game.

                Umass -1

John Cheney doesn't have enough goons to pull this one off. Coming off an impressive win over Rhode Island and having won 3 in a row, I look for that streak to run to 4 today.

                Marist -7.5

When in doubt, bet against Iona. A team full of inexperience will have trouble against a 18-7 Marist squad.
