Basketball Parlay of the Day - Wednesday, 2/07/07
Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will do the standings for the month of February at least.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

HOUSTON/SMU UNDER 134.5: Houston went OVER vs. UTEP in its last game, but that snapped a streak of five consecutive UNDERS that averaged a combined 133.4 points. While that figure is just slightly below this total, it is inflated by a 143-point overtime affair vs. Central Florida. The UNDER is 4-2 in SMU home games that have had a posted total this year, and all Mustang home contests are averaging a combined just 128.7 points.

OKLAHOMA STATE/OKLAHOMA UNDER 133: These teams combined to score only 127 points in their first meeting, and we expect a similar output tonight. The UNDER is now 11-5 in all Oklahoma games this season, and the Sooners are allowing a miniscule 49.5 points per game here at home, where their games are averaging a combined 124.8 points. Now the OVER may be 10-4 in Oklahoma State games, but three of those UNDERS have come over the last four games.

UCF -5 over ECU: ECU plays well at home, but not well enough to overcome this mismatch. ECU hasn't won a D-1 game since November.

Iowa -2.5 over Minnesota: I believe Minnesota is getting too much credit at home. Iowa covers easily.

Duke +4.5 There is a reason that I have never seen Duke as an underdog at home as far as I can remember. They are REALLY good at home. Granted they have lost two in a row, and have already lost two games at home this year. However I see no way possible they lose three in a row overall and two in a row at home. Ill take Duke +4.5 at home everytime.

Georgetown +1. Georgetown is really in a groove, and while Louisville is better than I expected they have not performed very well against the elite teams in the country. Which Georgeown originally was thought to be, then dropped off, and now once again is showing why people expected them to be so good.

Saint Louis +10- I believe they are getting too many points here... They have almost an identical record to Xavier and SLU has played a lot of close games this season... Will ride the points here...

Georgia +6.5- Dangerous spot here, but I believe UGA will put up a hell of a fight tonight in front of a sellout crowd and the #1 team in the nation! I look for Georgia to keep this one close and possibly pull the upset...

I'm sorry if I didn't provide a full length analysis for my picks. To be honest with you, I don't spend a lot of time analysing matchups.

                1. Cavs are better than the Clippers. Cavs are playing at home. I think they will win by 6 points or more.
                2. Nuggets are better than the Hornets. Nuggets are playing at home. I think they will win by 5 points or more.

I generally like good home teams to cover versus road dogs to beat the point spread or Totals.

Like that UGA play P2M! Here's mine:

                  Minnesota +3
Going against a mediocre team as a road favorite - especially one that has only won one game on the road all season - is a nice angle. Going against that mediocre road favorite when they are off an upset home win is a very nice play, as I see it. Minnesota has actually been improving after a dreadful start to the season, and the Barn has regained some of its luster.

                  Duke/UNC Under 142
First, let me say I think Duke is going to win this game. Duke is still a very strong defensive team - actually that area of the team is improved - but they aren't nearly as strong offensively as in recent years. Whether they win or not, they will have to make the game low scoring to have any chance. Two things work strongly in their favor for that - playing at home obviously, but also they have a strong advantage with Coach K against Roy Williams. I think K will be able to have a remedy for the press, and he will slow the game down like he did against an uptempo Virginia team.

                    Georgetown pick 'em at Louisville
Agree with dbldown's remarks, and like the way Green, Hibbert and Wallace have been playing the past couple of weeks.

                    Oklahoma State +5½ at Oklahoma
Cowboys coming off embarrassing loss at lowly Colorado and can ill-afford to drop another Big 12 game so quickly. Also just like getting Boggan and points, even if it is on the road against a Sooners team playing with some revenge from earlier this season.

Towson St +1.5 I don't understand the line at all. T. State should be the favorite in this game. They just beat this team by 13 at home. Plus these stats....Towson State is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games on the road. Towson State is 8-1 ATS in its last 9 games

Old Dominion -11.5 Don't be scared off by laying 11 points on the road. Old Dominion has been on fire latley. They also just beat this awful G. State team by 30 last week.
Old Dominion is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games on the road.
Old Dominion is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games.

                        Pitt@WV Under129
Two of the best teams in the Big East defensively and WV has gone under in 5 of 7 home games.

                        Wright St. -1.5
Wright State has been red hot of late, winning 5 straight and 8 of 10. Illinois Chicago has lost 6 straight and did not cover the spread in any of those.

                          Philadelphia 76ers -4.5:
Both these teams have been playing better lately, but Philly will look for revenge for thier loss at Charlotte in January. They are also coming off an OT win v. NJ that should give them some momentum here.

                          San Antonio Spurs -4:

The Spurs are just 2-8ATS their last 10 games and have lost 2 in a row on the road. However, they've done well in recent years as a road favorite and have had an unusual 5 days off between games here. Look for them to get back on track tonight.

T'Wolves -8.5. Look for wolves to come ready to play, fresh off a 35 point thumping at the hands of the Rockets. While Golden State romped Indiana on the road. The oddsmakers have not put a lot into those two performances, and neither will I. T'wolves get back on track here and win BIG.

Minnesota Gophers +3. Look for an Iowa team, not accustomed to winning, to come flat here after a huge home win against Indiana. The Gophers have been playing better of late as they are 3-0 ATS and 2-1 SU the last 3 games. Minnesota wins this one straight up.

Louisville (pick 'em): Two pretty evenly matched teams here. Both teams playing well lately. I give Louisville the edge because of the homecourt, the fact they desperately need this win to improve their NCAA tourney resume, and Pitino can outcoach Thompson any day of the week. I also like L'ville's athleticism over the Hoya's size in this matchup.

Georgia +6: Florida is clearly the better team, but UGA plays everyone tough, particularly at home. The Gators also have a tendency to underestimate their opponent and play poorly in the 1st half, only to pick it up in the 2nd half. This won't work against an underrated Georgia team. Georgia has a great shot at winning this game outright.
