Hello,
I've found out that a lot of European sportsbooks offer betting on 1st timeout called. And it looks like they see it as completely 50/50 offering -110/-110 lines on all games.
Now, this could be a gold mine I thought, because I always remembered Gregg Popovich calls super early time outs. However, upon manually checking all play-by-plays from ESPN this season of Spurs games, it seems the Spurs are only 24-19 on 1st timeouts called (currently on a 5-1 run, and also there were 8-0, 5-1 and 0-6 runs earlier this season). However, even on a 10% juice this would still produce a (small) profit in the long run.
There could be teams which much better 1st timeout records, but it's a lot of work to check this all manually via play-by-plays.
So does anyone know where I can find stats on 1st timeouts called? They probably don't exist?
Or does anyone know a current NBA coach who is famous for calling early time-outs, other than Popovich?
Oh and you're also more than welcome to post 1st timeouts records per team in here if you have some spare time and like to manually check the play-by-plays on ESPN. Would be appreciated!
