(Michael Reaves/Getty Images)Atlanta Hawks forward Chandler Parsons suffered “multiple severe and permanent injuries” from a car crash last week, his attorney at Morgan & Morgan said in a release via Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes.
Parsons, 31, was involved in a car accident Jan. 15 and was initially reported to have suffered a concussion and whiplash. Per his attorney’s remarks Monday, his injuries include a traumatic brain injury, disc herniation and a torn labrum that could “potentially” end Parsons’ career.

    From Morgan & Morgan’s statement:

“Chandler was in peak physical condition at the time of the wreck. He is now working with a team of doctors to regain his health, and at this time, his ability to return to play is unclear. Our focus right now is on helping him make a full recovery, while we also work to hold any and all responsible parties fully accountable.”
Attorney: Parsons hit by alleged drunk driver

Parsons was on his way home from practice when he was hit by a driver who caused a three-car crash at a busy intersection, per the release by Morgan & Morgan. The driver was arrested for drinking and driving, they said.

“The at-fault driver created utter chaos on the roadway, needlessly endangering the lives of countless motorists; he now stands charged with DUI, admitted drinking, had alcohol in the car with him, passed out after causing a three-car crash at 2 p.m. on a Wednesday in a busy intersection, seriously injuring and potentially ending Mr. Parsons’ career as a professional athlete.”
Morgan & Morgan added that Parsons is having a “difficult time accepting the consequences” of the “reckless conduct.”
Parsons had been a healthy scratch since Dec. 27 and played only 54 minutes over five games. He has scored 14 points this season.
The eight-year veteran has played for the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies traded him in the offseason to offload the final year of his four-year contract.
