No one is talking about it but maybe they should be. Leonard is not re-signing in Toronto. All this talk of super-teams is just going to make him want to leave even more. I don't think he & Lowry have hit it off. Clippers? Lakers?

If the Lakers get Leonard it will give Magic & Walton more sway over James and his posse -they wont need him.

interesting idea but i don't think it happens.

from a pure marketing point of view, the raptors should at least make one major push at winning the title. i don't think it's realistic but that doesn't matter.

leonard has missed so many games, i'm guessing another team might be leery... i guess you can make the argument that he'll be very fit next year.

interesting on lowry/leonard not meshing that well. i wonder if lowry is optimized as the #1 option on a mediocre team. great leader though.

here's a question: what does trading leonard to a cap constrained team do for that team? can they now sign him much more easily?.

clippers and knicks look to be the big players with cap space. haven't heard this but what about the bulls? or even atlanta? ..... LAL of course, but i think they can do better than leonard.

i should elaborate on atlanta/chicago being possible super-team destinations... basically you need a completely blank canvas to add 2 star players. and those are desirable places to live (for african americans and most other people)

I think it's the same deal as with James last night. He's skipping games because he's only half interested.

It's more about leverage. Leonard can sign more with the team he is already with. That's why the Raptors got him; they think he might stay for the extra money (and a chance to win the East).

Atlanta desirable? Hmm if you say so. I'm European, and I think of it as a sweaty southern city with a heavy african-american population.

lots of african american athletes and entertainers live there voluntarily (i.e. the athletes live there in the off-season). in fact, in the hour since i posted, i just happened randomly to see a bloomberg article on this exact phenomenon.....it's fast growing city... i understand that if you aren't black or from the south, it might not appeal to you (and me)

leonard had a much more serious injury than anything james has had (i realize james was just injured)....

as per the raptors trading him, i think the advantage for new team is getting leonard for playoff push and him becoming familiar with new team/city (you are correct in implying that there was no way leonard would ever sign with toronto if he didn't play there).

in the case of AD, i heard on the radio yesterday that in terms of lakers offer for him that it will be the same or better in the summer. not totally sure i agree but those commentators presumably know better than me...... i would have thought half a season with lebron and AD getting used to LA would be worth something...... i thought the offer was good but what do i know? maybe have to substitute ingram for ball in the trade.

I don't pay much attention to these trade talks as it's typically all negotiating strategy. Unless you hear that the team interested has pulled out of talks, and even then it's occasionally a ploy. Lakers will put their best offer forward on the 6th or the 7th -both sides know this.

raptors gonna keep kawhi and trade lowry, valentunas, 1 other player, couple draft picks, cash for AD, holiday and maybe payton and/or another big man!

contract wise it's doable but the worse scenario for raptors is kawhi and AD can leave for nothing!

with that team and maybe with a shooter and a veteran in other trades, they can compete against warriors only for this years finals.
