question: why nba total so high in 2018?
Hello, everyone. I googled but couldn't find anything. Is there a reason why the over-under total in nba is so high this 2018-2019 season? Are there any rule changes this season? Thank you for your comments.

Below are the average Vegas over-under totals for the past seasons.
2018: 221.8 (so far 180 games have been played)
    2017: 212.4
    2016: 210.6
    2015: 204.7
    2014: 200.2
    2013:200.6
    2012: 195.6
    2011: 191.7
    2010: 198.7

Scoring is just picking up, no one plays defense. WHen you have open look at 3's, a lot of guys can just drain them at will.

Its still early in the season, right now some lines are wayyyyyy too high

A significant rule change happened this season:

Instead of getting another full 24-second shot clock after an offensive board this year, teams will now only get 14 seconds to put up another shot.

            - I feel like most teams would put it right back up after a board anyway, but this might be playing a small factor
