The countdown is on - the most exciting sport for gambling/DFS is almost upon us.

As I'm researching all the teams for this year, the Spurs are a team that im curious to hear others thoughts on.
Are they a playoff caliber team out of the West after losing D. Murray? Derozan and Gasol will be the stars carrying the offense - along with having the best coach in the league i think they sneak into the 8 seed.

As a Raptors fan, DeRozan can easily carry the load as being the top scorer on a team, with Pop as the coach, I think the Spurs are in a lot better position than people say, the problem is the West is stacked and that is going to hurt them, I see them being a bottom feeding team in the playoff picture anywhere from 5-8th. I personally see them finishing 6th.

Spurs are probably a playoff team if/when the Wolves lose Jimmy. Warriors, Rockets, Jazz, Thunder, Nuggets, Lakers are probably a shoe in and the Pelicans should get in but I don't see an 8th team that is significantly better than the Spurs. Portland typically finds a way to fluke their way in but that team is really nothing special as we saw last year in the playoffs and they have the biggest price in the NW Division despite winning it last year. I'd say the 8 spot is between Blazers and Spurs with the Grizzlies and Clippers as outside shots. People love my Mavs to have a bounceback season, but I'm skeptical about making the playoffs. I'm thinking going .500 is a more realistic goal.

Aldridge and DeRozan are both mid-range shooters, I'm not a big fan of the combination tbh. There isn't a clear alpha between them as they're both sort of 3rd tier players, obviously behind the LeBron/Durant etc group but also below the Butler/George/Kyrie etc group. But Pop will make it work somehow I guess. They will compete most nights and have enough talent to win about 43-45 games.
