It's not easy to lay a dozen points. But it's made easier when you're laying them on Tim Duncan and the Spurs at home in San Antonio against the Memphis Grizzlies. Tip off at the AT&T Center is set for eight o'clock, Eastern, and the Alamo City Hoopsters should have their 20th win around 9:30, give or take a few minutes.
These two teams have been going in opposite directions and they have the opposite records to prove it. Both teams are in the Southwest Division with the Spurs (19-6) in first place and the Grizzlies (6-19) in fifth place.
San Antonio is 9-3 at home and currently on a 4-game winning streak, and eight of their last nine. The last time the Spurs lost at home was Nov 24 in a close, 3-point decision to the Mavericks.
Tim Duncan leads the squad in scoring (21.0) and rebounding (10.1). Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli are combining for more than 34 points, 7.5 boards and 9.5 assists per night.
Memphis is a terrible team away from home, winning just twice in 14 road contests this season. They went to overtime at home on Monday to beat the SuperSonics and stop a 6-game losing streak. Hakim Warrick, the Grizzlies leading scorer at 15.2 per game, was held to just 10 points in that contest as he found himself in a bit of foul trouble for the third time in the last five games.
The Spurs are 7-1 straight up and against the spread in their last eight games while the Grizzlies are 2-9 in both columns over their last 11 games. Look for the Spurs to roll at home against the Grizzlies.
