    wnba experiment
ok, at the request of houlihanstx i'm starting a thread where the largest line move of the day in the wnba is tracked. i don't know a single thing about wnba, so there will be no handicapping involved on my part whatsoever. i'll track whether or not the largest line move of each day is in favor of the team that covers the spread. ck mentioned in his thread for saturday that wnba is all about line movements, which is what gave me the idea to do this in the first place. i don't subscribe to any high-powered sites, so i'll use covers as the reference. they had the seattle storm opening at pinnacle as -3 faves today, then the line jumped to -8, and kinda fluctuated from there between 7 and 7.5. they went on to win by 10. i believe the same could be said for the l.a. sparks on saturday. so right there, i'm sold.

tomorrow, we only have one game. but i'm seeing a move from pick to l.a. -4. so, i'll make a rule that whenever there is only one game AND a line move of 4 points or more, which we can all agree is significant, that will be an automatic play.

so the play for tomorrow is the sparks -4 to continue slamming the shock in detroit. doesn't sound traditional, but this is the wnba...where amazing happens.

i'll try to stick to pinny lines so we have some consistency. and i won't be tracking units...let's assume -110 on all plays and if you're hell bent on knowing the units then do the math. i don't care to, and probably wouldn't do it correctly anyway.

    play -- sparks -4

    overall record - 0-0

I have always gone the other way when there is a huge line movement! Atlanta and Washington the other night! IT opened at 3 and then went to 7, well they only won by 6. I have done very good with this I will keep a watch on this but I have always done the opposite!

Sad, sad, sad. I guess home court does make a big diff. in this leauge. Detroits defense is just amazing. The way the Sparks are playing this one is over. The only way to get back your $ is 2nd half play. But I don't want to chase. If the Shocks are up big at half. I say the Sparks cut that lead, so Sparks 2nd half?

ok, so this was a good ole fashioned, makes-you-wonder-why-you-do-this beatdown. line isn't out for tomorrow, so i don't know if there will be a play. i'm staying positive and keeping in mind if i had used this angle from day one, i would be 2-1.

good grief, if i think about this too hard my asshole starts to hurt.

congratulations sexymit...if this is losing after 2 weeks i expect to see a thread from you and your contrarian method and i'll scrap this one and become your biggest fan. what do ya say?

Dude screw this experiment. I just looked at the records at teams for 2008, and only one team had a positve road record last year (San Antonio at 9-8). Pretty telling. From now on until further notice I'm taking home favorites only. And sometimes top tier teams while on the road, going against the lower tier teams. Look at the records of these teams from last year - http://sports.espn.go.com/wnba/standings?season=2008.

houlihans, i'm not ready to screw the experiment yet. i'm going to give it a little time. unless i go 0-5 or some shit, i'll keep it going for 2 weeks and go from there.

sexymit, the problem is i don't have a wnba opinion! not yet at least. we'll see what happens. you're welcome to give your opinion whenever you please, though, even though the plays i'm tracking in this thread are devoid of opinion and capping, and not necessarily a reflection of me.

looks like the shock opened at -1 and are now at -5.5. nothing close to that kind of movement happening in the other two games so far, so i'm rolling with the shock for experiment play number 2.

                                experiment play -- shock -5.5

going on a two day trend is apparently not cause to start an experiment. at the request of houlihanstx i will screw this experiment, and track the stuff more before i speak on the findings.

                                  good day.

Mystics are surprisingly a great team, who would have thought it. And the Sparks are overrated. But when the Sparks get Candice Parker and the Shocks their injured players back they will be tough. It's still a disappointing loss for Detroit though SO many turnovers.
