Lebron is the best crunch time closer?
According to http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/playo...ory?id=4210596 an article on espn.com Lebron is the best crunch time closer statistically in the NBA this season. It takes into account the regular season and post season numbers. It has Kobe Bryant listed as the 9th best overall. I for one still consider Kobe the best closer in the game especially in the playoffs. Why a list is made with regular season guys who in all honesty doesn't really matter if you deliver in the clutch or not if you are not able to do it in the postseason. Anyway it is something else going for the debate of Kobe or Lebron is better. If you believe the stats the only argument that Kobe had left was being the better closer. So let the debate begin I am still on the Kobe bandwagon probably for a couple more years then I think Lebron will have the dominate edge in all the areas.

Yea the only player on that list ahead of Kobe as a crunch time closer that can even hold a candle to him is Dwayne Wade. He has performed on the largest stage and done some amazing things. His rookie year he hit two game winners in the postseason so it isn't a stretch to say he might be better in the clutch. Gun to my head and I am picking a guy who I want with the ball on the line to win the game though it is definitely Kobe.

hmmm that doesn't seem right...guess it was easy for LeBron to get points with his team up 10+ in the 4th along with constant fouling. IMO the closing role is one that LeBron is lacking quite a bit on...not one of the top guys I want in the final few minutes with my team down by a few points or in a dogfight. He isn't great at the ft line, turns it over too much in clutch situations, and forces up too many bad shots when the pressure is on.

Terrific player but if he could close in crunch time he would be extra scary.

Closing is more than just the last shot.

Yea and in this postseason alone I have seen Lebron miss to many HUGE FT attempts down the stretch. That is the problem with the list that was made on the site it included the regular season and the regular season stats don't amaze me with how well you play down the stretch. Do it in the playoffs in some big game situations.

Do not agree. The best closer is Kobe. ESPN must have needed to fil some space.

Yeah exactly but closer to me means last 3-4 minutes of the game...LeBron over Kobe and Wade. Give me a break. Easily take either of those 2 in crunch time over LeBron.

Thanks Accu...became more of a time issue last year with being forced to work few hours away from home for the summer. Way too busy and shorthanded over there so I was working too damn much. Going to try giving it a lot of time and focus this year. Bought a netbook so I can have a long battery life for it while doing stuff at work as well. Confident I can figure it out and put together a winning season...time will tell. Hope to see you around.

I don't think Kobe ever made a game winning shot that wasn't a free throw. Or made a three with a 6'-11" guy in his face with 1 second to go when he was 23 years old.

Anyone can close in the shitty East. 8 or 9 50 win teams in the West.

This article is a joke. Lebron is too young as evidenced by this series. He still makes bad decisions and he doesn't understand when he should shoot and when he should get his teammates involved. That's the huge difference between Kobe and Lebron. I'd rather have the ball in Kobe's hands as opposed to having Lebron shoot the last shot anyway.

Everyone knows Kobe is the best in crunch time FG wise, but they must be basing this off regular season stats when alot a games this year Kobe just sat the 4th cause of LAs commanding lead.
