Los Angeles Lakers vs. Washington Wizards // Feb 2

    At the buzzer

The Los Angeles Lakers (17-34) head to Washington to take on the Wizards (28-20), kicking off an eastern road trip. The Wizards will look to take care of business at home and continue their strong play.

    Hollywood’s royalty

The Lakers venture off to Washington in search for something that has eluded them for most of the season: a win. The Lakers are 5-21 on the road and haven’t won a game away from home in a very long time. How long? Since mid December… Ouch.

The Lakers’ record has not been good as a whole, but the young team hasn’t found a way to find their composure and win on the road. The Lakers are however coming off an impressive showing against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night. The offence came to play and put up a 120 points in a 120-116 victory over the Nuggets. They now head on a five-game road trip starting in Washington and need to carry their momentum with them. The Lakers have the fewest road wins in the Western Conference this season.

    Home court wizardry

Everyone can see this is a one-sided seesaw. But, the fact the Lakers have been so poor on the road is even more magnified now that they head into Washington. The Wizards currently hold the longest winning streak at home in the NBA.

The Wizards have won 15 games in a row and have not lost in their own barn since Dec 6. They are also 12-2 in their last 14 games and are easily the hottest team in the Eastern Conference. While teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Toronto Raptors have been idling atop of the leaderboard, the Wizards have been gaining ground.

The Wizards are third in the league in field goal per and 10th in the league in scoring with 106.9 points per game.
As favourites of 8+ points, the Wiz are 17-11-2. They're 21-9 ATS in their last 30 home games.

    The Final Breakdown

If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it. Even with a big spread, the Wizards are playing head and shoulders above the rest of the teams right now, let alone the lowly Lakers.
