New Orleans Pelicans vs. Toronto Raptors // Jan 31

    Into the North
The New Orleans Pelicans (19-29) travel North of the border and into Toronto to take on the Raptors (29-19). Two very different teams from different conferences heading in different directions. Did I mention that these two teams are different?
    Nola birds

The Pelicans have had a dreary season thus far and a big factor of that is their play on the road, or lack thereof. The Pelicans seem to not even show up to games when they are on the road as they are 6-15 away from home this season. After holding court at home and going 3-3 in their latest home stand, the Pelicans now hit the road for three games.

An obvious positive for the Pelicans as of late has been their scoring. During their home stand, the team averaged 112 points per game which is a big improvement on their season average (103.5). If their scoring streak continues, they may be able to pick off the Raptors. The Raps are not the best defensive team in the league and have lost six out of their last seven. However, the Raptors have made easy work of the Pelicans as they are 8-2 in their last ten matchups.

    We the North
The bad news is that the Raptors stink as of late. The good news is that Cleveland Cavaliers have also been in a tailspin atop the Eastern Conference. While the Boston Celtics have managed to squeak past the Raptors, Toronto is still third in the conference.

The new year has not been kind to the Raptors as they went 7-9 this month and will finish with a record below .500. It’s the first month that the Raptors have failed to have a winning record since March 2015.

However, the Raptors have found their form against the Pelicans in recent history. The Raps are 10-3 in their last 13 games against the Pelicans and swept them in the two games they played against each other last year.

Also, Derozan is back… ‘Nough said.

    The Final Breakdown

Raptors haven't been great as of yet. They need to turn it around. It starts tonight with a blowout.
