Indiana Pacers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves // Jan 26

    The starting five

The Indiana Pacers head to Minnesota to take on the red-hot Timberwolves in a cross-conference matchup. The Pacers (22-22) are sixth in a top-heavy Eastern Conference and the Wolves are down near the bottom in their conference with a 17-28 record.

    The basketball state

The Pacers should replace their logo with a big yin-yang symbol. Depending on if they are home or away, they have been two completely different teams this season. At home, they are a dominant 16-6, whereas on the road they are a dismal 6-16. Although the Pacers are 6-4 in their last 10 games, they have dropped three in a row. They are entering the last game of the current five-game road trip. In their last 15 games against the Wolves, the Pacers are 10-5 and 4-4 on the road.

The Pacers have faired very well against the spread when facing the Wolves. They are 12-8 ATS against Minnesota in their last 20 games on the road. In their last 15 games when they have been an underdog against the Wolves, they are 10-5 ATS. And when in Minnesota as underdogs, their record is 9-4 ATS.

    Into the wolves’ den

While the Pacers are sinking, the Wolves are swimming. Although the young team has not had a thrilling season, there is hope for Wolves fans and the future. They are 6-2 in they last eight games and are currently on a three-game winning streak. The spotlight of course being Andrew Wiggins’ buzzer-beater on Tuesday to beat the Phoenix Suns 112-111.

Despite their record—and thanks to their current run—the Wolves are only 2.5 games out of the final playoff spot in the West. At home, the Wolves have been respectable given their current record. They are 10-13 and have won four in a row a home including impressive wins over both the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets.

    The Final Breakdown

The Pacers need to get out of their funk. And while the Wolves are slowly becoming a more fun and exciting team, they aren’t ready to keep this pace for a prolonged period of time.

You know what's funny? Total opened up at 210 and closed at 213. Hit 212 on the dot. Same thing in the OKC game, Game opened at 200 and closed at 197.... hit 197. Funky stuff in the Association....

But hey, Pacers won straight up. Can't ask for a better result. Nashville ML won in NHL so 2-0 sweep on the night! Back tomorrow
