Upstairs pulling the strings. You think they'd be playing like this if it was a game 7?

I expected them to come out flat but not lay a complete dud. I thought Houston was playing off adrenaline in that 1Q but their energy never went away and they just buried the Lakers in the 1H. Coming back from double digits on the road in a playoff game is a tough task and the Lakers dug themselves in a hole they couldn't dig themselves out of. I thought Game 1 was a wake up call for the Lakers but evidently, it wasn't. The Rockets clearly came to play without Yao and they still believe they can win. As a Laker fan, I am disappointed and I will admit that this team is far from championship material. They are not invincible and they can be beaten. Great teams would go for the kill knowing that Houston was already down 2-1 and without Yao for the rest of the series. The Lakers have not earned that title yet. Cleveland looks more hungry and so does Denver. Until LA starts playing with some urgency and some fire, then I don't even think they make it out of the West the way they're playing.

I agree with you. Cleveland and Denver look like the 2 determined teams and I'm not sure LA can play defense against the quick strike offense of Denver.

I lost 1h, game, 3rd q, 2h all with a ton of money on it. Hoping they won't come out like that again next game. I also took kobes player prop of making over 6.5 free throws thinking he'd attack the basket with no Yao in the middle. HE DIDN'T EVEN GET TO THE LINE ONCE!

Hopefully boston pulls through for me so I can re-coop.
Double Up. Hit em in the head.

The Lakers suck you in and spit you out. I've been on a Laker fade pattern since midway through the Utah series.

Cleveland is making it look easy against everyone so far. They should win and cover against Atlanta on Monday night. That's a safer play than anything your going to get from the Lakers.

Call me Skip Bayless but I believe that game was handed to Houston on a silver platter Because of the 2 Flagrant 2 Fouls on Ron Artest that got him ejected from back to back games that the refs clearly got wrong because the NBA downgraded both of them to Flagrent 1 Fouls. Either the NBA is still paranoid about The whole Tim Donaghy scandal, or ol Tim was right and the NBA's straight WWE! And if my inner Bayless is correct, the Sorry Excuse for a playoff team the Dallas Mavericks will win tomorrow even though they would much rather GO FISHING, because the NBA owes them big for the blunder at the end of Game 3. Im not sayin they blew the call, but they came out themselves and apologized because they were fearful of the backlash! I'm not sayin I'm just sayin...

I saw this game coming today... I was all over Houston! It just shows when you hype up a team having NO CHANCE to beat the Lakers with Yao Ming out they show you other wise.

With each passing game and each passing series, I'm more and more convinced the Lakers AREN'T championship material.

They lack the toughness and consistency they had last season.

Is it possible we could be looking at a Denver/Houston Western conference finals?

How many times have I bet these sorry ass lakers and continue to lose? I am staying away from the rest of this series. I even lost my over wager on the game. I only hope the Lakers win this series for the fact that I will be taking the Nuggets to take them out in the 3rd round. If the Lakers even make it to the 3rd round they might be underdoggs against the Nuggs if they continue.

I am not a Lakers fan, but just because they lost to the Rockets does not make the Lakers a non-championship material team. I bet if the Cavaliers played the Rockets, they would have get destroyed in some games too. So it's basically the Lakers are playing a way better team compared to Cavaliers having to play who?....Pistons & Hawks. Keep in mind, the Rockets is a close-to-elite team capable of beating or has beaten top teams such as Celtics, Cavaliers, Orlando, Nuggets.

I agree the West is a tougher conference, but at the same time, the Cavs get the lead, play good defense and maintain the lead. Lakers get the lead, blow it and barely pull out a win. Maybe mentally, they know they can beat Rockets and Jazz with ease, but that is the wrong mentality to approach the playoffs with and can easily get you burned. Instead of sweeping or ending the series next game, they have to at least play 2 games, which wears players down and increases the risk for injury. As the late Chuck Daly says defense wins championships. We'll see at finals (if lakers make it). But I think Cavs will take it in 6.

Bingo! The Cavs have yet to be tested. Detroit and Atlanta are garbage. It took the Hawks seven games to beat Wade. Congratulations. The Cavs would not be blowing out teams like they did with Detroit and now Atlanta. Denver should be put in this conversation too because everyone thinks they're the best team in the West all of a sudden after beating Chris Paul and David West (No, they did not beat the Hornets; they beat CP3 and West). The Mavs got lucky drawing a washed up San Antonio team without Ginobili and now, they are getting beat by a superior Denver team and playing like the Mavs I saw in the regular season at times. I was listening to the radio today and John Ireland mentioned the Lakers typically get blown out in playoff games. If you go back through the years, you can probably find at least a couple games where the Lakers got blown out of the building in recent playoffs games. This is a custom for them, although it's something I wouldn't want to see as a fan. Now, everyone thinks the Lakers will be great fade material but I'm going to warn all of you now that this is when you should be backing the Lakers. If I can recall, everyone thought that Boston getting points at the Lakers house earlier this season was a gift. Well, the Lakers ended up winning that game. The same thing happend up in Boston and in Cleveland. Turns out the Lakers decided to show up again. If you're going to take a team as talented as the Lakers, wager on them when their stock is low and that is right now. Everyone thinks the line for Game 5 is high but in all honesty, the Lakers will come to play Tuesday and they will respond to that disappointing performance in Game 4. I'm not as comfortable laying all those points at home because I've seen them blow big leads, but the 1Q or 1H lines will probably suit me just as well.

The Lakers are not a mentally tough team~

The bench has absolutely stunk it up~ Farmar and Vujacic cannot hit the ocean with their jumpshots....Fischer couldn't guard John Wooden...they are turning into a one man show...maybe 2....I will give Gasol some credit....Bynum looks lost, Odom is to up and down...

It's only a matter of time before Kobe demands another trade

The real question is, who has a better coach? Rockets or Lakers? Exactly, Rich Adlaman is a dummy while Phil Jackson is has 3 rings. So dont worry about the Lakers because they will make it to the Finals.
