i really do not see how Brooks is responsible for OKC out of the Playoffs
with Durant missing the whole season, and Westbrook trying to fill the void alone.

this really goes back to the Harden trade

i know GM Presti was working with limited funds.. but Harden was biggest than Ibaka..
the players all should have gotten together and decided to take pay cuts
    to stay together..

    Durant, Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka..

those are basically three MVP Candidates.. plus a big-man

wtf?... how often does that happen?

FIND a way to stay together, or for Presti... CONVINCE team Brass..
that once the Rings come... the revenue will follow

disagree.. he put together one of the all-time best squads (mentioned above)..

as far as i know.. the owners chintzed on him... and kept him on a short leash..
he was not spending money on bad players (that's what a bad GM does)

he assembled a team loaded with the NBA's elite... and was told.. "you can't do that"
GM Presti can only make arrangements.. Owners have to sign the checks.

Owners should have trusted him more, and paid them all, or asked them as a group
to stay together.. Ibaka should have taken less to keep Harden

I dont think so, there's only one basketball and each of them pretty much need the ball to be effective, theyed be hard to beat no doubt, but maybe they would be, even with one in the game they could keep games close and even get leads if behind, 2 on the floor hard to stop, all three on the floor is nightmarish.

No way they could have kept them all really.

Harden always wanted to run his own show.

i would take a significant pay cut to be part of a Legacy...

an historical team.. a Dynasty.. the memories.. and the life you live as a champion
how you are treated.. FAR outweighs.. an extra $20M

what is the difference between $100M and $80M?

to me nothing. i have very simple tastes.. do not like flashy anything
i want a simple car, no jewelry.. nothing that attracts gold-diggers..

but being a multiple-NBA Champion to me, would be very attractive if i were a player

i don't think so, he just did not want to be the least valued..

Durant got a Max Deal... Westbrook had it in works..
Ibaka got his.. why should he be odd man out?

if i was on that team, as a player.. i would say,

"..guys.. let's all take $15M less.. and redirect that to James..
so he can stay.. we can and will be a Dynasty for the ages."

Get out of here. No you wouldn't unless you were ignorant.

Also, don't act like there isn't much of a difference between 80 and 100 million. It's all relative to your lifestyle.

To someone like you. there isn't much difference because that person is already richer than you will ever be.

To someone like Harden, it is a big difference when you own over 10 cars, several houses, and live a lavish lifestyle.

If the kid at the local McDonalds makes $8 and has a chance to work at Burger King for $10. He will jump on it.

If the Finance Manager is making 90k and can move to another company to make a $105k, they most likely do it.

I don't blame Harden at all and I'm the biggest OKC fan here. I blame greedy management for refusing to pay the luxury tax besides being one of the most profitable teams in the league.

It's easy to say you would take less when you aren't in that position. In the real world you typically don't "take less" as you excel in your craft.

The only expections to this rule are players in he ladder stages of their careers that are just trying to win titles. Not the young dudes.
