I have the spurs winning at -3.5 and houston rockets @-7 over the lakers.
I chose the spurs based on matchup (i use matchup for most of my picks) The dallas mavericks will make lot fo bnoise this season but I think the spurs will be ready even without Kawhi leornard and spillter.
The spurs have a better bench, Ginobli, diaw, Underrated Rookie Kyle anderson to mention a few. The spurs also have better guard play, Im not sure Jameer Nelson will be able to stay with Tony parker who is going to be fresh coming off a very well rested off season. The backup PG for the Mavs is also not impressive (Raymond Felton) Im not too concerned about Monte ellis in this matchup the spurs play very good defense and would be able to stop his drives.
The matchup favors the spurs with their experience and home advantage.
HOUSTON @-7 The lakers are a joke this season even with the return of the black mamba. I just cannot see any scoring from the lakers. Kobe will take way too many shots to prove critics wrong and miss a lot in this game. They will have a presentable defense but poor offense.
On the other hand the HOUSTON rockets have a lot to prove. Dwight Howard is returning to the land that forbids him. i see him dominating the boards and scoring about 24 points. Adding Trevor Ariza will bring some balance to the Houston Rockets as a tenacious defender and also a remarkable 3 point shooter.
