#1262Unless they lose by 14, correct?
Then you had +14.5
P.S. What's the purpose of always buying a couple points? You're laying way too much juice, and for what gain? It's not like football, where there are key numbers to be had.
So now instead of eating 10% juice, you split a pair of games, and you're swallowing 50-70% juice (it's not always just 10% per half point bought). Are you just trying to pad your W/L record by skewing the spread in your favor, since you never really report on your units up or down.
"Hey everyone, I bought five and a half points on each of these here six games, and went 4-2. Aren't I great?"
Um, not really because the juice ate all your profit and then some.Comment -

#1263You wanted discussion, well, here it is.... don't run and hide, discuss.
Are there key numbers in basketball? If so, what are they? I'd like to know more about your strategy in buying points.
Thank you, kind fellow.Comment -

I would like to know when you buy points and why?
Of course injuries to a home teams prevalent player is one.
I guess streaks are another.

#1267I never buy points in NBA... very rarely I might in college.
Football is a different story, although I try to refrain from buying points in general. It's like raising taxes.. no thank you.Comment -

#1276I've been tailing and losing my ass. I would just appreciate an explanation for why we're buying points again... isn't losing at regular odds bad enough, without having to pay an inflated percentage to the book? Are you trying to put me on the streets? Is this thread an attempt to increase the homeless population in America?Comment -

#1278I thought this thread was for discussion? Apparently you don't actually want discussion. You just want people to pat you on the back, and say "good luck" or "cheers" and all that trivial garbage. What's so difficult about reasonable discussion?
I'm just asking about your strategy for buying points, and all you can do is cry to the staff like a little baby with butt rash.Comment -

NEVER BUY THE POINTS
Then if Atlanta wins by 1 you get a push and no win.
That is why I bought two points.
If the bookie thinks it is that close of a game I would rather have the advantage.
Anyone can reply except ahole Munny.Comment -

#1285I see your side on this, but 100% the juice will hurt u big time in the long run...Maybe buy a half a point so theres no chance for a push if thats what your worried about...?-120s not horrible... But i also don't have a problem with pushs so i always play the numbers where they standComment -

I am playing on a small bankroll so the juice won't kick me.
I just don't see Atlanta losing at home to Cleveland.
I think it will be a back and forth game and very, very close.Comment -

#1288I would like to know where he is buying 2 points???? I use 5 Dimes and the best I see there is +2 @ -119. So, where are you buying these and what is the negative pay out. For example: are you using Bovada and getting +3 @ -140 ??? That's what I am talking about. You really should explain these things if you want us to comment seriously.Comment -

#1289OK, so I wasn't far off in my guess 2-140??? Was that so hard to explain??? You want serious discussion in your thread, than simply tell us what you are doing, so we can follow along. And when you win or lose simply post it, but don't change it tomorrow morning and say " I didn't bet that after all". Fair enough ????Comment -

Key numbers don't exist in basketball. If you're buying points for arbitrary reasons on a regular basis, the book is just laughing at you. I'd like to know how often your purchase of extra points actually pays dividends. In other words, when was the last time you bought two points and that turned out to be the difference between a win and a loss? I'd imagine the cons outweigh the pros, considering your losses on these games will eat away at your bankroll far more often than the rare occasion that the extra points account for a win.Comment -

#1291If you but it to 2 and they lose by 3, also no win... if you buy to 3 and they lose by 4, no win etc.

#1292Gotta side with the others here. If it's nfl i can understand u buying from +5 to +7, but in basketball there ain't any key numbers. U said u can't see hawks losing then why r u buying 2 points and juice it up when u can get hawks ml at even?Comment -

#1295What difference does it make? The line is set where it is. Buying extra points doesn't give you an advantage, you're just making the losses harder to bounce back from. You've also bought points on double digit spreads so there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to your point buying.Comment
