If they finish as the No 5 seed in the east, they will most likely face the bulls and pacers in the 1st and 2nd round respectively in the playoffs, the nets are 1-6 against these two teams (including 0-4 against the pacers). However if they drop to No.6 in the east, they will most likely face the raptors and the heat, and the nets are 6-2 against these two having swept the heat in the regular season. And to drop to No.6 they need to lose the final two games and have the wizards win at boston.....

True. I am working under the current scenario that Toronto is in the 3 hole and hold the tiebreaker over Chicago. The Bulls could jump to three with a road win coupled with a Toronto loss.

I bet on the nets because the spread is too good to pass with Carmelo Anthony out. The nets won 17 of their last 18 home games and they didn't plan to rest anybody tonight which I falsely assumed they wouldn't be tanking, which was obviously wrong tonight.

I still messed up at the end I give you that. I planned to bet on the nets this game days ago but had the "theory" yesterday and created this thread, I even thought about betting the knicks covering the spread. Then just before the game I learned Carmelo Anthony was out and I thought this would be too big of an opportunity to pass up. Turned out I was wrong and my early theory might turn into reality, that's betting.

It would be fun if Chicago won the final regular season game at Charlotte and jump to the 3rd seed, the nets would have been still facing the bulls after all this juggling around lol. I kind of agree with you that the pacers were on a freefall and probably became a less competetive opponent as the season progressed but still the record of 0-4 might be something too big to overlook or write off in the nets' book as indicated in Mason Plumlee's interview (see the link to the article in my last reply) Not to mention they are 4-0 against the heat. I understand one or two wins might mean nothing but four? According to Plumlee it seems they really think they have an edge against the heat but not the pacers...
