    Last night's LAC/PHO game
If there's ever a been prime example of a team that embodies the laziness and disinterest of a typical NBA franchise, the Clippers are it. And if there's ever been a prime example of a team that is becoming an endangered species in the league (never giving up despite the deficit, playing way over their heads relative to their talent level, tenacious, gritty, etc.), the Suns are it.

This game was a perfect case of the entitled franchise (despite the fact that they've never won anything) vs. the hungry one. Yet again, the books get owned by Phoenix late. Suns are now 41-21 ATS, which is 3.5 full games better than the league's next best (Toronto). I wish they had just completed the comeback and put the Clippers out of their overrated, underachieving misery. A few more minutes and it would've happened.

grithin got fouled out around 4 mins or so left. The Clippers have been 2h blowing out teams ,except the last two. Deandre Jordan was in foul trouble. Paul's shot wasnt dropping. The Clippers return back to reality.

Clippers still won. They are going to be a tough out this year. They might be the team to beat out West.

If you think that 'guts and work ethic' will overcome 'talent and a winning coach' you are badly mistaken. Phoenix will be lucky to take two games in a playoff series from the Clippers.

For anyone who thinks Hornacek is Coach of the Year: you do NOT sit the only irreplaceable player on your roster no matter how many fouls he has. You keep him in the game taking the risk that he will foul out. Hornacek figured this out just slightly too late when they went down 20 late in the second quarter (after Dragic totaled a whopping 8 minutes and had to sit first with two fouls in the 1Q, then with three in the 2Q).

Keeping Dragic on the floor was a risk he'd get a fourth foul... but frankly who cares? Why not just play him the regular minutes like you did twice before, giving the Clippers a real run for their money? He has four fouls in the 2Q or five just after HT - so what? You still lose, and it's just a single loss! You aren't beating this team unless you A) play you damn hardest like you usually do and B) you have your absolute best troops out there. Not on the night where Blake Griffin can't miss a jumper. People always talk about NFL coaches screwing up seemingly basic decisions (especially in end game situations). Well to me, following the 'conventional strategy' and sitting Dragic in 1Q and especially in 2Q was a pretty bad mistake. I wish someone asked Hornacek about this — I'm almost sure he'd say he wishes he left him in.

I'm not saying Hornacek is bad; but he's just learning, much like many of his players. I like this team but the talent level just isn't there to be a true contender. A covering machine against slightly undermotivated foes? Sure. A team able to beat any of the top 4-5 contenders in the league in a playoff series? Fat chance.
