#8Nuggets is such a wild card with Nate Robinson and Ty Lawson. When those guys go-off there is no cure for that. Also Faried can cause a lot of trouble for opponents, if he gets decent playing time Blazers might have some trouble with their really poor defense.Comment -

#9Just because they aren't eclipsing 221 doesn't mean anything, they've been killing it with overs all season both home and away. Nuggets play exclusively in 5th gear, to say "oh 221" is dumb because they almost scored that much in a game against the Pacers of all teams earlier this season at home.Comment -

#12They've gone over the predicted totals though, I know this because I've madea killing off overs with them this season
to sit there and spew a stat like that completely negates what Nuggets are capable of doing / have been doing.
Are the Blazers/Celtics gonna combine for 221? of course not, but they combined for 216 last week and that's Boston. Not an offensive powerhouse.Comment -

#13You are both correct.
Shark is saying they have gone OVER 221 points in 3 of 20 which he/she just proved.
You are saying the Blazers go over whatever the posted total is, Blazers 14-6 over at Home, Blazers 29-13 OVER overall.
You are both right just not reading the posts correctly.
Best of luck to both of you

#15I apologize for the direct attack, I just think that's a horrible formula to gage your bets on. you need to take into account both sides. matchups, pace, rest etc. certain teams they played at home aren't going to push the ball offensively which is why every over/under is not the same #. based on the numbers the books have given the Blazers have been eclipsing. I think that's the stat you need to look at here. BOLComment -

#22Portland hits the over vs the books between 67-70% of the time this yr.
They are playing another team that can put up a ton of Pts. Both defenses are in the bottom of the nba in Pts allowed.
This reeks of an over. This is one matchup where it's certainly possible for both teams to light it up.Comment -

#23So far in 13-14, there have been 5 games played in the NBA where the Home Favorite is playing its 3rd game in 4 nights, not back to back, previous game on the road, with a total greater than 213. In those games the Home Fav is 0-5 ATS, and 0-5 ATS in the 1H by an average spread margin of 15 (that's equivalent to losing the bet by 30 to the line) - small sample size, huge results. If you are going to bet this game and you don't want to take Den +4 in the 1H, then at least wait until halftime to bet Portland.Originally posted by boydako13They already beat nuggets.....it should have been a double digit ++ on nuggets.

#24Don't overlook the fact that they're practically begging us to take the Blazers here...7 pt spread has attracted 73% of the public (as high as 79% last night), yet the line hasn't budged all day. Portland is returning from a tough road trip, and only getting a day of rest after the long flight back from Texas, and Batum (their best perimeter defender) may have rushed back from his finger injury, as he had to convince the trainers to let him play vs. the Thunder and didn't play very well (although he had the nearly impossible task of guarding Durant). Wilson Chandler has been playing well for the Nuggets the last few games, and Batum is the only one on the Blazers with a real chance to slow him down, IMO.
The Nuggets also play at a faster pace than the Blazers do, and their speed (especially Lawson/Robinson) and the fact that they're well rested (haven't played since Sunday) could spell trouble for the Blazers' squad which is likely exhausted. We all saw last night with the Suns vs. Pacers what a quick team can do to even the best defense when they're tired, and the Blazers have one of the worst defenses in the league. My prediction would be that the Nuggets come out shooting and build an early lead thanks to the speed of their guards, luring the Blazers into playing Nuggets ball. On a normal night this may not be a problem for the Blazers, but they've had a tough week with a lot of traveling and might struggle trying to keep up with the pace of the well-rested Nuggets.
Also, the Nuggets don't play many nationally televised games and should be excited for this one!
Bottom line, I'm going with Denver here. Blazers may win SU, but I think it will end up being a close game down the stretch. Should be a very high scoring game, but 221.5 is a little too high for me so I will stick with the spread.Comment -
