        I would probably go with the road team in that situation. If I'm not mistaken, I think the home team is always automatically favored with 3 points, and so if the spread is 0, it means that the better team is the road team. I could be wrong though.

          In capping I always give the home team 3. even when there 15pt dogs they still get 3

            As mentioned by roasthawg, a spread of 0 simply means that there is no spread; it is also referred to as a "Pick'em". Whatever team you pick needs to win the game outright.

                  hmm, that's a good question. My guess is that the spread programming is in place in case the spread changes before game time, otherwise, I'm not sure.
