    Clippers have lost their minds
The Clippers and Celtics have formally opened serious discussions on multiple transactions that could potentially add up to a trade arrangement that ultimately lands Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and coach Doc Rivers in L.A., according to sources.

    ??

No they haven't lost their minds. Their current roster is built for a 1st round exit.

With those 3 coming in with CP3, they can go much further.

are you serious? You want them to sign a bunch of geriatrics? Did you not see the Knicks/Celtics Series? These guys are fuking over the hill. Plus they want to trade their two best young players for Dwight Howard?

The Clippers can't win it all. The Celtics can't win it all. But what about "the Cliptics"?

Clippers never had a mind. Not a smart one anyway. CP3 fell into their lap. So did Blake Griffin, and that's the only reason they had their best regular season ever this year. Once they have to start relying on "making moves" they're in trouble IMO.

People act like bringing in Doc Rivers is going to make a huge difference. Yeah, Rivers has won a championship, because he had great players, not because he is some all-star one-of-a-kind coach. The reality is that coaching doesn't make THAT big of a difference. It matters, but just look at Rivers' record before he had the Big 3 in Boston and you will see that what really matters is the roster.

And has someone already said, Garnett and Pierce are on the decline at this point in their careers.

Just because you exit in the first round doesn't mean you need to tear everything down and start again. There is a lot of tough competition in the NBA and the edges are small when you get to the playoffs. And let's not forget that Griffin was hurt for the series vs. Memphis.

I don't see why the Clippers necessarily have to do that much this offseason, other than sign Paul of course. Their roster is good. Get a good coach and make a run at it again next year.

Yes and Tom Thibadeau was the real mastermind behind the 2008 Celtics, their defense has been trash ever since he left in 2010.

While the Clippers had the wistful thought of trying to arrange a sign-and-trade to acquire Dwight Howard for Bledsoe and Blake Griffin, the Lakers have flatly rejected the idea, sources said.
"They'll never do it," one source with direct knowledge of the conversations told Yahoo! Sports.
So far, the Lakers have rejected every possible sign-and-trade scenario for Howard, sources said. The possibility of trading him within the Staples Center is probably the least palatable scenario of all should they be forced to lose him for nothing in July and finally do agree to a sign-and-trade possibility. "

who the hell is running the Lakers? They rejected what?

bottom line is, Clips have no future with Griffin/Jordan. Pierce and Garnett are old obv and their days are nearly done, but I think with CP3, Doc as coach, and better shooters here, they should have a couple of years left in them to atleast make a run. A run that will be miles better than what Griffin and Jordan could ever give them. So yeah I like it - they know its a short-term thing but its a way to keep CP3 and take a decent gamble with the Celtics trio.

I think Pierce and KG have 1 year left, Pierce did not look that bad in the playoffs offensively atleast, their offense was just not clicking without a point guard.

Pierce has at least 2 more years left in him, if not 3... Garnett? next season is most definitely his swan song.
