Can someone write u pthe basics for hedging losing game plays with 2H plays?

HI Gang,
I know there is a way to hedge a losing game play with a 2H play, but every time I try it I lose both.

I know I am a crackhead, but it can't be that hard.

Can someone explain the basics in a way that even a crackhead like me can understand?

Im not sure you can always hedge.

For example if you had nyk+8 today, and at half they are losing by 10 you would need a line of something like DAL +2 (or more) for the second half to be able to hedge. The situation has to be right.

On the other hand if the knicks are up by 3 at half you can try to middle if the 2H line was something like DAL -4 (and hope dallas wins by less than 8 points to win both).

In the second case you would also be guaranteed to win at least one of your bets.

but ideally you want to go into half with your current bet looking like a winner, then it can open up options for you.
