Wanted to throw out a bone if anyone is interested. I have been noticing a trend with the Laker's and its made me some good money over the past month when the opportunity arises.
On games where the Lakers are favorites, you can usually catch them in the middle of the 3rd quarter at much better odds than the opening line. For instance, last night the Hornets went on a small run and went up by 2 in the middle of the 3rd qtr. The in-game spread went to LAL -3.5. The opening spread was 8.5. They won by 8.
I had another one where they were 4 pt favorites to start the game. They were down by 8 after coming out flat in the early 3rd qtr and I ended up getting LAL PK +180. Original spread was the LAL -180. Grabbed that one and it hit.
They seem to snooze through the first 2.5 qtrs and then turn it on when it counts. At this point, they might just be hanging in with shear talent for the first half of the game to conserve energy night in and night out. Whatever the cause is, I have hit this type of bet 5 times in the past several weeks. When you watch these games, you can see the hustle pick up and kobe start heating up in the third qtr. its to the point it feels like free money when I lock in the Lakers at much improved odds in the 3rd qtr.
I have seen all of the threads about the NBA being rigged. That may be so, but whatever it is, it has been +ev. The best part is that you get to watch half the game and make a judgement call. I watched the game and laid off the opportunity a couple of times because they didn't appear to ever pick up the intensity.
I bet at bookmaker.eu and they have good live betting. The odds are basically updated after nearly every basket. You usually have the chance to get either side at better odds as the game swings back and forth.
Now that I have offered this out there, they will probably have an epic meltdown in the 4th quarter tonight but I will be watching to see.
