Bankroll - how many % for a bet

how many % of your bankroll do you bet on a game or make sense?
Dont tell me "100% for a sure bet" cause there are no sure bets ....

1-3% per bet. (different than per game as sometimes I'll lay 3x on dog and 1x on the ML if I really like the game).

Bankroll:

$100 - $1000 20% % if you have a job

$1000 - $2000 10% If you have a job

$2000 - $10,000 3 - 5%

$10,000 - $50,000 2%

$50,000 - 1%

Betting $10 (1%) with a $1000 bankroll just isn't realistic in the real world as the action junkie in all of us wouldn't tolerate that bet for very long. That's why I say 10 - 20% with a smaller bankroll. 10% is large enough to satiate the urge and be a little easier to keep you from doing something stupid. Plus, if your bankroll is less than $5000, you are in the recreational realm anyway and I would hope you have a job so you could re-load. Stick to bingo and lottery tickets if $10 is your limit.

1% is the standard for pro gamblers. if you gamble for fun just come up with a system that allows you to get the entertainment you need and if your lucky you might make some money too. for me it depends on what my current bank roll is but generally i bet no more than 2 units on a single bet and my unit size is anywhere from 2-5% of my current bankroll. it just depends on how big or small the BR is at the time.

Personally I play % not units
1%-3% on horses (based on the confidence I have on the play)
3%-5% on other sports like soccer, basketball, or football because the strike rate is higher and I usually don't have long losing streaks.

But I had to force me in a very strong discipline to use such high numbers, limiting a lot my daily action.


If you're a newbie I strongly recommend you to start with 1% per play or even 0.5%
