5 minutes left in the 4th, timeout is called and there is some confusion as to whether it is a full or 20. It was really odd to hear what the ref actually said. There was a camera on him the whole time so I'm not sure why he was so blunt obvious in what he was doing.
There was some confusion as to whether D'Antoni called a full or 20 sec timeout, so he calls Popp and D'Antoni over and says:
"We've got a major problem here and I need your help, alright. You called a full, and then you wanted a 20, but you didn't have one because you called one in the third, but TV went to a 20 because they thought that it was gonna be a 20, alright. So what I'm doing right now is I'm stalling. I'm stalling for commercial time and that's why we're doing this right now and I need your help to help me because, because..." then Popp and D'Antoni ask what they have to do and he says "You just stand here with me because I can't let your teams go back onto the court"
This is about when the TV commentators realize what's going on and they say "Bill we're on the air" and then they cut to commercials.
Very strange. It had a very 'man behind the curtain' kind of vibe to it. I'm sure all the conspiracy theorists who think the league is rigged by Stern will love it.
