Seems straight forward. I think Hawks won't underestimate Pistons after only beating with 2 OT a few weeks ago.

They won't care about an old Celtics. And Celtics won't be having it easy today since they are playing the Pacers.

Can someone please tell me why, in a season where you want to lock in as many wins as possible to secure good playoff positioning, you would look ahead to a potentially harder matchup?
Surely the Hawks mentality would be 'of these 2 games we're playing the Pistons are an easier team to beat and we need to lock this one away before we play Boston on a b2b'.
Just like how Popp said "let's win all these easy games and just let the Heat have the hard game. That one won't matter if we win the easy ones".
So sick of the "look ahead" arguments that make no sense when it comes to winning.

Exactly. I'm also tired of the "revenge" factor being worth a second look. If a team lost to another team 7 weeks ago, how much revenge do you think they are looking for? The NBA is about streaks, whether it be in single games going on a 15-4 run to end the game or winning 8 out of 10 and making it into the playoffs. Does anybody have a website that complies a list of ATS records when betting against the public? About 60% on Hawks and it's moved 2 points already and it's only noon.

If the "revenge" factor was as prevalent as people suggest, that when teams lose to other teams they want revenge, then the Bobcats wanted a whole lotta revenge last season. Did they get any?
I do think that for big franchises with history and pride, sure, revenge might be on the plate. Atlanta vs Detroit? Come on. People are grasping at straws.
You can use any argument to back up your pick whether you're on Atlanta or Detroit, but at the end of the day I think this one comes down to capping with your gut. Mine tells me Atlanta take this one.
"Nah man, Detroit gonna win this one coz they want revenge coz they lost in 2OT last time. They feel robbed".
Nah man, Atlanta gonna win this one coz they want revenge for Detroit beating them by 19 in the 4th and nearly losing in 2OT. They nearly got robbed".

Revenge and look ahead factors don't decide games, I'll agree to that but they are prevelent angles to look at when you are capping a game. Handicapping goes much deeper than simply saying " I dont see how the Hawks don't win this, they are the better team" or "this line doesn't make any sense, Hawks should roll".

When I first took it I was like hmmmm. Took it anyways. Pushed at least. Why I was weary today with the OKC -7. That one hit though.
