Not only is this team not a contender anymore, they aren't even a playoff team anymore.
2 points in overtime against the Bucks at home?!?!

Why? What makes you say that? What team in the history of basketball has maintained despite getting older and older?

They were 17-17 at one point last season and still nearly knocked out the Heat.

They are older, slower, and carrying the dead body of Jeff Green on their backs.

Good for them. That's not happening this season.

Sounds like the weak reasoning the talking heads use for the Giants making the playoffs this year.

Are you guys going to continue to think the Celtics are just playing opossum during the regular season when KG and Pierce are 50?
I remember when the Pistons went through this with Rasheed, Rip, Chauncey and the boys. Everyone kept saying "don't panic." First they won a world title. Then they came up short a few years in the ECF but kept most of the vital cogs. Then came the crash in '08-09. Now they're a doormat, mostly because they held on to their "stars" too long.
I think the Celtics are currently in Detroit '08-09 mode.

Jerd Sullinger being completely unusable is only speeding up the process of Celtics irrelevancy.

Trades will happen this season.
They have come awfully close the last few deadlines but this year it will go through.

Sneaky of Paul to play for the Bucks then turn out for the Clippers later the same night.

It would be huge if Boston picks up Millsap or Jefferson from Utah

I don't let trends solely dictate my plays, but kind of hard to ignore that Milwaukee over the past three seasons is 27-12 ATS versus Atlantic Divison and Boston the past three seasons is 14-26 ATS on Friday nights and 20-40 ATS after winning by 10 points or more in the previous game. Milwaukee beat Boston earlier in the season on the exact same kind of set up. I'll take grit over glamour every game......

Have to agree.
They won their title and jelled 1 year earlier than I thought they would.
Then they had a chance to win 1-2 more. Smoke and mirrors when they got up 3-2 on Heat.
Ray Allen is no dummy, knew it was over and time to get out of town.
I just wish he went to OKC or SA. Hate the Heat.

totally agree. except with him going to SA - in another year or so it would have been a repeat of the situation in Boston, older key pieces breaking down while trying to infuse young talent that has a ways to go.
Plus the NBA loves a good storyline... doesn't get any better than a loved player turning heel by joining a rival.

They've done this act for the past 3 seasons. Boston will be there come playoff time but they won't beat Miami.

I know Rondo isn't playing tonight, but this team is all fail right now.
GS makes them look like a bunch of 100 year olds.

Yep they are finished....said it at the beginning of the year. Only reason why they went so far last year was that the East had no competition outside of Miami. If Boston were in the west last year, they probably would not have made the playoffs.

They should have blown the team up at the end of the year last year. Once Ray left, it was a sign to part with Pierce of KG. They need to start building around Rondo.
