The Lakers are the New England Patriots of 2007. They ae getting 20 point spreads on the regular. I'm sorry cuzz, I am going to have to fade you, and ride with the points until the wheels fall off. Success comes with a price tag, or in the case of wagering, points. And 13.5 points is no gimmie spread. I mean really. just look at last night's board and tell me how many games where decided by 14 points? The answer is none. I don't have over 1000 viewers coming to my threads every day because i don't know what I am doing. Chek it. The Patriots covered their first 8 games last year and did not cover not one single game the rest of the year all the way through the Super Bowl. If the linemaker wouldn't go fo losing the cash in those first 8 in football, what makes you think that he's gonna go for it in basketball? He's gonna get his. And he's gonna get it from those who think the Lakers are going to win by 20 points every night. The funny thing is, that the Lakers are my favorite basketball team. Now isn't that ironic...?

I don't too much like the lakers on double digit point spreads. they just seem to be comfortable with just winning. I may take the Lakers moneyline but the Nets may gave the Lakers a lil run for their money...

Nets +13.5 are the correct play.

not to mention that the nets are an out of conference team playing some good ball lately... sounds like a good time to fade the lakers here too (and i'm a laker homer myself... but a money homer too)

I understand that but the problem will be on New Jersey. They wont be able to score through the lakers defense unless the lakers decides to pull out their bench players. So it will depend on the lakers bench players, hopefully they can defense their double digit lead.

I hear both sides, but I agree with CK and Wangichu. One of my buddies called me up and told me to put the farm on the lakers -16 against SAC. His first mistake is being a LAL fan and betting with his heart. His next mistake was betting WITH the public. My own personal rule is NOT to bet my favorite teams. It clouds my judgment, or at least I THINK it does. I dont like big double digit lines on public favorites, especially the LAL and Celts. Given that the LAL were something like 11-1 at the time, it just STUNK of set up to me. Now, I didnt have it broke down all science-like as CK does, but the rational was crudely the same. I doubled my money on that game by taking my roll, folding it in half and putting it back in my pocket. Thanks to some fat a$$ write ups I am now understanding WHY it is right to fear big lines on favorites with a win streak going. Didnt know about the 3 win rule, but I am damn sure paying attention.

I never play big spreads, I hate the Lakers(I bet on them alot though, 4-1 this year.) But I wouldn't get hog wild on them tonight, Vince Carter and Devin Harris are in the top ten in the league in scoring, the Bulls dropped 26 on them in the 4th with less fire power, that will kill your spread! You better hope LA is up 20 with 1:30 to go or you won't cover. Some one off NJ bench will take some cheap 3's to kill the spread in the final minute.

lakers could blow the nets out if they wanted to.
huge faves sometimes put it on cruise control and are happy with just a solid win, w/o the starters breaking a 2nd half sweat to cover a big #.
tough to lay all those points in this spot

The Lakers have the ability to cover that spread but may not have the will. 13.5 points may not look like a lot of points for the Lakers but they may just be content with a SU win.

Exactly. Kobe's playing minutes are way down this season.

You guys are all correct, Lakers are absolutely capable of blowing this Nets out of the water but they will not have the will to. Lakers are also my favorite team cocnknocker and Id say I probably have to take the Nets with the points on this one too. Lakers seem like the Celtics to me, cover against good teams but not bad teams. They know they can blowout these teams but whats the need to waste the energy?

just what i was thinking, why spend the energy to blowout a team? getting the win is more important to the lakers
