Knicks defense has really stepped it up this year. miami will do their 3Q of bullshit and probably pull out a win, but 4Q of blowout NBA basketball doesn't seem likely

Miami off a embarrassing loss and having lost their first matchup with the Knicks earlier this season.

Knicks on a b2b and potentially without Melo. Probably better he doesnt play than play and shoot 2/18.

Nothing the Heat have done recently suggest they will turn up and blow them out.

From watching the Knicks play as well as looking at some of their stats specifically Melo's (who will be checking the best player in the world in this game) I have to disagree that "their defense has really stepped up this year.

First of all I don't know what this 'stepped up' is referring too because last year the Knicks were 7th in the league in defensive efficiency however this year they have fallen to 16th. As well as this they have dropped from 7th to 13th in points allowed in the paint and are ranked 25th in the league for both 3 pointers allowed and opponents 3 point %.
Plus Melo is historically a poor defender and this year is no better, ranking in the 30th percentile in total defense of all NBA players this season (where 50% and greater is average and above average). And the iso is his worst form of defense conceding 1.7 points per possession, which doesn't match up well vs Lebron who runs a lot of iso.

Miami is the 2nd highest scoring team in the league, has the best overall field goal % and is 2nd in 3pt %. Their problem though atm is defense, ranked 24th in defensive efficiency, which matches up poorly with the Knicks who are 4th in points per game and #1 in offensive efficiency....

Right now I'm looking @ a total of 202, and based on all this I say you got to love the over

Ty for the info man, def something to keep in mind. To be honest its going to be very tough of the knicks to cover the 7.5 if this game stays under because of A) how bad NYK seem to be on closing out on outside shooters as shown by their poor ranking in 3pt % allowed B) their poor defense in iso sets and C) How well Miami score (1st points scored, 2nd in 3pt % and 3rd offensive efficiency)....
