Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest - Tuesday, 11/18/08
Starting Saturday (November 1), we will start a November Hoops Parlay Contest with a grand prize of a $200 cash account at BetPhoenix, 3 time roll-over. Second Place will be a $50 account and last place will receive a $25 BetPhoenix account with a 3 time roll over. If there is a tie for last place in both units and game-by-game record (15 parlay minimum), the last place prize will be divided equaly.

    *IMPORTANT*
All players must have an account at BetPhoenix to be prize eligible Sign up here

To be eligible to win prizes, all players must PM their BetPhoenix account ID to SBRforum Staff NO LATER than 6:00pm ET on Wednesday, November 5!

    1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

    2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading, no Money Lines or Halves allowed. NBA and NCAA Men's Colege Basketball will be included.

    3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.

    4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up! The write-up does not have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you are making your play. If need be, please refer to prior month's contests for examples.

    5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis for both games will be NO ACTION. Once your two-team parlay has been posted, you CANNOT change either play. Any edited post will count as a *-LOSS! If you make a mistake (such as leaving out "Over" or "Under" or not clearly stating your selection), need to add analysis or wish to enter corrected lines, do so in a separate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not tip off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not parlay selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts or congratulatory posts. Any player with two edit violations during the course of the contest shall be ELIMINATED FROM PRIZE ELIGIBILITY.

*-EXCEPTION: If someone edits a post on the last day of the competition in an attempt to get an automatic loss in order to win the Last Place prize, then the player will be credited with a WIN.

    6. And here’s the fine print:

    • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
    • One entry per household and IP address.
    • Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
    • Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays required to be eligible for monthly prize.
    • Tiebreaker for prizes - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
    • All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
    • SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

          Just Posting:

          Cavaliers/Nets Over 100½ 1H
This total looks high on the surface but both sides could easily get over 50 in the 1H of this contest.

          Boston -8
The whole world will jump on the Knicks tonight with the news that Garnett won't feature for Boston. Good teams love every opportunity to prove they aren't a one-man show. Jazz did that yesterday in the absence of 2 of their key players.

They will bounce back against a weak opponent.

              Tennessee Martin +25

Tennessee Martin is the best team in the state not from Knoxville. They will cover against Vols.

Tue 11/18 707 Miami Heat +2½, On paper this seems like the way to go, History would say other wise. Last year Washington owned the Heat(yes Wade was out for 2 of those games) but they had their number! There avg win Margin last year being 20.75 ppg last year! The closest game was 15 point difference! Now there is know Agent Zero this time and the make of this team from last years Heat team is total different.(Beasley, Marion, Healthy Wade) In honesty you should play the ML here but for Contest purposes lay the 2.5 and watch the Heat break this 4 game losing streak and win out right by double digits!

Toronto Raptors +6½ If you look back at the Playoff Series Between these two teams last year all you will see is a beat down that the Magic put on the Raptors! One key thing I think that will change this match up from last years 5 game series is J. O'Neal. He should be someone who can guard and keep Howard off the Boards and limit his production! Also a key for the Raptors is the 1st quarter. In the series last year, in the 4 losses they had avg 23.0 points in the 1st quarter! The Magic Avg was 32.5 points. If the Raptors can not let the Magic run away with it in the first quarter should be a close one and I think who ever has it at the end will win this game!

                  Knicks +8 and Under 204

Knicks are my team first of all, but anyways it would be a big confident boost for them to beat the defending champs. I think it will be a close game with the knicks winning by a small margin and the game going under 204.

INDIANA PACERS -2: The Hawks are coming back to earth, as their defense has surrendered over 100 points in four straight games. The home team has won and covered each of the last six head-to-head meetings.

CENTRAL FLORIDA +4: Central Florida will have the best player on the court tonight in Jermaine Taylor, who scored 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the UCF opener. Meanwhile, Valpo may already be looking ahead to their trip to the Virgin Islands, as the Paradise Jam Tournament begins this Friday.

704 Indiana Pacers -2 (A young Atlanta team is struggling right now. Take Indy here and BE A WINNER)

706 Orlando Magic -6½ (Orlando has won 5 of the last 6 meetings between these two clubs. Trend should continue)

New Jersey Nets +5½: cavs look like a trap, so im going with the nets.

Chicago Bulls +12:12 seems like to many points for a decent team to be getting.

Purdue -18½ --- purdue is a very good team vs. a team going on the road who lost to Rockhurst

mavs/bobcats Over 188½ --- mavs can score a lot of points and give up a lot, I know I say this about every mavs over pick but it's true

La Salle +2.5 - FSU has better talent, but they're young and developing. They will lose to this skilled A-10 team.

Tennessee -25 - UT Martin has no defense at all. This one will never be close, and UT will score triple digits again easily.

Sac/Memphis under 197.5 - Neither offense is great, hopefully the defenses aren't awful to keep this under

Milwaukee/Denver over 192 - Hopefully fast pced enough to get over this number

Kentucky +17- I feel like UK can keep it somewhat close.

Chicago Bulls+12- Derrick Rose and company score enough to keep it close.
