Experience betting MLs on NBA Favorites?

I've gotten screwed by a few points betting against the spread in NBA and NCAA games, even though I pick the winner. I'm so far 4-0 this year picking teams on the ML. Picks have been Heat, Spurs, Jazz, and Bulls. Has anyone tried this strategy out. For the most part I only want to pick the top teams and ideally at home.

I, like many others, have tried this. It only takes ONE loss to basically wreck the other 3-4 wins. Play the spread, over the long haul you'll get more value.
