#186This is why I respect you. You are honest unlike 99% of this board and you actually talk sports and angles. At least you give reasons behind plays unlike many.Originally posted by No coincidencesI ebb and flow just like anyone else. Only difference is I actually track my plays, vs. 99% of the board that pretends to win big because they don't have to answer to a track record.
I see all of these people that like to make threads and draw attention but they don't keep a running record.....why? Because they suck.
It's funny because I can guarantee you that the majority of the people on this site don't bet what they say they do and their units aren't $100.
So what you're units are $20? That means you're down about $500 in the NBA. I could go to other people's threads, track their plays, and if they were really betting $100 like that act like they are, they would be down thousands.
So in the end, you're actually doing better.Comment -

I'll never claim I'm an expert in any way, shape or form. I pick and choose spots to go big (for me at least). Sometimes they win. Sometimes they lose. If I see an angle on a line or a discrepancy from book to book, I'll post something about it. For some reason, certain posters take that as me guaranteeing something, or pretending like it's a sure thing based on what I've observed. Never used any such language here. Never called a play a lock ever. If someone doesn't like what I post or how I post it, why don't they just ignore it? Anyway....

I use all information I have on hand to make plays but I gamble for entertainment purposes. I don't rely on it for income. That's what I have a career for. As a result, most of my plays are about $50 and typically vary depending on how I'm doing. Gambling is very streaky.
Last year I was killing it so I threw $400 down on the UTSA/Weber State game. I had UTSA +2.5, then right after I put $400 down, Weber State got pounded and the line when to Weber State -4.5. Of course I freaked out thinking I had just made a horrible bet. UTSA was down double digits most of the second half, down 16 with 8 minutes to go, and down 11 with three minutes to go.
Amazingly, UTSA started making it rain jump shots, Weber State missed two free throws in the final 20 seconds, and then Weber St. was up 4 with 4 seconds left, UTSA made a layup to cut it to 2 and Weber State turned it over on the inbounds pass. So instead of UTSA fouling and me losing, they took a three point shot, missed, and the game was over.
I will never forget that game as it was the only time in my life I have went "large", gotten a horrible number, and had everything possible go my way in the final two minutes for me to cover. Typically, it always goes against me. Someone out there was on the opposite side wondering how in the F*** they got a great number, dominated the whole game, and didn't win their bet.
You probably didn't care about this story but my point is, nothing is for certain and people are stupid risking way more than they can lose. We see ridiculous finishes like this every day.
Had I bet $25 on it, I would have gotten similar entertainment value. To add to that, I have won over 1K in a few days with $25 units. It is possible to build a nice bank if you get hot rather than better a few hundred on square plays and losing like three in a row.
Simple math beats about 95% of us. If I can gamble an entire year and end around even, I consider it a good year as I got a ton of entertainment for free.
Personally, I would rather travel to Vegas every six months, take about $500 to bet, get free drinks, and have a good time. I went last month and am planning another trip in January.Comment -

#195nice hit on the last night, think the Spurs look good tonight. No Steve Blake tonight for Lakers, so I guess that leaves the rookie Morris at the point, lots of distractions in Lala, and action split on this game with spurs going from +1 to -1...whats your take?Comment -

#196When you're playing a decent volume of games in multiple sports, taking the time to write out reasons for plays is a time-consuming endeavour, and unless you're trying to build a name for yourself and translate that success into a business, there's a pretty small payback on the effort. I'd rather spend an hour capping than an hour writing.Originally posted by BigDofBAThis is why I respect you. You are honest unlike 99% of this board and you actually talk sports and angles. #199The Lakers have been riding the wave of criticism recently. Granted their last 2 games were against weak opponents, but I think the Lakers are getting their swagger back, making hustle plays and will put up a real fight tonight. I think the Lakers are being undervalued right now, and this is the prime time to back them.Originally posted by No coincidencesHey og. #200It takes probably 20 seconds to type out one or two sentences giving a brief reason why someone is playing a side. I think it's a pretty lame excuse to say it's time consuming when the same people that play like 5 games a day are on this site 24/7 posting about BS.Originally posted by suicidekingsWhen you're playing a decent volume of games in multiple sports, taking the time to write out reasons for plays is a time-consuming endeavour, and unless you're trying to build a name for yourself and translate that success into a business, there's a pretty small payback on the effort. Not that I care that much as I think most people here just throw darts. I was just commending No Coin because right or wrong, at least he has reasons and is honest.
I'm glad you bring up playing a decent volume every day. That probably explains why some people on this site are down over 40 unites after just two weeks of the NBA season. Good cappers pick their spots and don't bet every game.
With that said, I'm an action junkie like everyone else but I don't claim to be some know it all like most of the punk kids on this site.Comment -

#203That's a very broad statement. With the inclusion of live betting, it's quite possible to be playing with an edge on several games on any given night in the NBA. If you want to play 5 carefully selected games a week then there's nothing wrong with that strategy, but the assumption that a handicapper can't profit by playing a larger volume of games (perhaps at smaller stakes, reflective of a smaller edge on each game) is dead wrong. It's just an expansion on Pinnacle's model of a smaller theoretical hold over a larger handle. When you start dipping into derivatives, ML parlays, etc, there can be a LOT of opportunities on the board on any given night worthy of attention. Don't confuse playing volume with being reckless.Originally posted by BigDofBAIt takes probably 20 seconds to type out one or two sentences giving a brief reason why someone is playing a side.
